These days I will assert that pretty much all science is flawed. Carson was just ahead of her time.

Leftists/communists want us to give up fuel, a/c, electricity, air travel, cars - basically modern life., because

We also got rid of Freon when we didn’t need to.

But... imagine this.

You are the producer of a useful product that is the best in the world at what it does, and it earns you millions- if not billions.

But the patent is about to expire, so everyone else can start making it.

So you plant news stories that your own product is ‘bad for the environment’ and get the whole country upset that the ozone layer has a hole.

Then you get your own product banned, and you replace it with a new product, that you hold the patent on.

A product that is inferior in every way AND is so caustic you need to handle it with hazmat equipment.
Now you are the only producer able to sell the new product and (surprise!) a bunch of product handling equipment.

If Freon is bad for the environment, this new stuff cannot be any better.

Just a theory... but bad science got rid of DDT, and gave us Global Warming, so it’s been done before.
