Despite the focus of Congressional Democrats to push for the impeachment of President Donald Trump, a recent Monmouth University survey [link at URL] showed that Americans would rather have the election in 2020 decide the fate of the White House.
An October 30 November 3, 2019 poll showed that 59% of Americans surveyed agree that if you want Trump out of office, it makes more sense to focus on next years election rather than go through an impeachment process now.
Most Americans say that those who want to remove Trump from office would be smarter to focus on the next election rather than impeachment, including a sizable number of those who actually support impeachment, the poll said.
It also found that even among those who support removing Trump from office via impeachment, most actually agree that focusing on next years election provides a better opportunity to remove him. Only 34% disagree.
Patrick Murray, director of the independent Monmouth University Polling Institute said: Even many who would like to impeach Trump seem to feel that beating him at the polls in 2020 is actually a better strategy for ousting him from office.
A Lack of Trust Among the issues that stood out in the survey is the American publics lack of trust in the ongoing impeachment process.
While there is growing public support for an inquiry, the public is not very confident with the process to date, the Monmouth report said, noting that neither political party is seen as particularly high-minded in this process.
The poll showed that just 24% say they have a lot of trust in how the House impeachment inquiry has been conducted so far, 29% have a little trust, and 44% have no trust at all.

A parallel Monmouth Poll that is featured at Five Thirty Eight at the top of their list of recent polls showing only 44% showing yes to impeaching Trump and 51% no. Even better than a month ago.
Five Thirty Eight, as reported in the media today, said that Monmouth is one of the top 6 polling outlets.
Mommouth is a reliable leftist poll. This is extremely bad news for the Democrat Fascists.
Wow, and 73% have little to no trust in the impeachment process.
The 73% saying they have little to no trust in the impeachment process cannot be explained away by any method.
CNN breaking news?
No doubt some of the polls about impeachment are reflective of Trump supporters who say they want it because it will destroy the Dims’ chances next Nov.
No doubt.
And like CNN will ever report that most of the polls have consistently oversampled Dems and undersampled Independents.
And good luck ever seeing NPCNN report that 73% have little to no trust in the impeachment process.
Wow, and 73% have little to no trust in the impeachment process.
I would agree with it for another reason.
The Democrat Impeachment will fizzle.
Obamacrats are going to be indicted over the FISA abuse.
And the Dems want to take all that as an aswer to everyone working, stock market 401K’s through the roof, and disengagement in foreign wars?
They have ways of factoring those things out I believe...
...As not even Trump supporters could affect a poll so much that the poll shows 73% saying they don’t trust the impeachment process.
If liberals were to say it is because Americans perceptions have been tainted I would ask them if that was true when they were citing polls up to recently when the polling shifted to being against them if they ever listened when people told them those polls were oversampling Dems and undersampling Indies.
Elijah Cummings said the only way to beat Trump was to impeach him and they apparently believed him.
Problem is they got no one to focus on for the election, as they are all big time losers. So they must focus on impeachment. It’s their only hope.
FOCUS...Less than 1 year...Ready - Aim - Vote
This was a poll of 908 adults instead of likely or registered voters, and this time independents were oversampled (42% vs 29% Dems & 29% Republicans).
Read later.
So nearly 40% don’t believe in elections? Wow, that’s a scary number.
It’s the first time an impeachment and/or impeach and remove poll that Repubs sampled were correct and Dems were within .65% correct on sampling numbers.
If any poll nailed it, it is this one.
Excuse me, .065 or 6.5%.
