Owens promised to bring the values the tenets represent education, faith, industry and family to Washington, D.C., to counter a country that is more divided now than when he was growing up in the segregated South.

Owens is the author of Liberalism or How to Turn good Men into Whiners, Weenies and Wimps, a book critical of whats described as decades of efforts by black leaders to promote socialism, and Why I Stand: From Freedom to the Killing Fields of Socialism. This is Mia Loves' old seat.

Burgess Owens is one of the best. We need him in a leadership position!

Congratulations, Mr. Owens!

I hope he is better than the other mormons from Utah like Romney and Mike Lee.
To: shelterguy
He’ll end up like Chavetz. All sizzle no steak.

Is he Mormon? It seems like Mormons hate America, after Utah elected Romney its pretty obvious they do as a group. With friends like these ...

Owens is married with six children and is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He has publicly shared about his faith to large audiences.

Im not here to be a politician. Im here to save our nation, Owens told more than 50 supporters... Nothing like having realistic goals for your campaign.
To: LiberalismDestroys
My UT source, who has been good, says Owens can win this.

What I have seen of him is all good. We can hope.

I believe this is Mia Love's old district, so the race thing will not be a factor. Mia booted away a perfectly good congressional seat by giving Trump no love.
She took umbrage at the Donald's alleged characterization of Haiti as a $#*+hole country. Hello, Mia! It is. Why do you think your parents worked so hard to get out?

It seems like Mormons hate America . . .What an asinine bigoted statement! Utah gave Hillary the third lowest vote total in the nation after West Virginia and Wyoming (also full of Mormons). If any other denomination with similar numbers had done likewise, 2016 would not have even been close.
You ought to subscribe to Romney's facebook feed just for the comments from his constituents. They know they made a major error in electing him. So does the Donald for endorsing him.

Yes, I remember that. She probably was hoping for Media love by dumping on Trump. She got Media love alright, but her conservative base abandoned her in Nov 2018.
With Owens running, I think this seat is a GOP pickup in 2020.
To: Dan in Wichita
Agreed. He has the added advantage of Owens being a famous Mormon political name when the district was represented by Wayne Owens back before the j@ck@$$ party went full leftard. There are enough older Democrats who will vote for him for that reason alone.
BTW, I liked Mia when she first came on the scene. I thought she was a nice fresh face. My son-in-law, who lived in the town where she was mayor before marrying my daughter warned me that she wasn't too bright. Looks like he was right. Sad. We still have a dark grey cat named after her.

Utah’s 4th district is deep red. Mia Love shot her own legs off when she veered left. The current guy just voted for the faux impeachment, so he’s toast. The seat will have a new occupant next election.
