U.S. diplomat Bill Taylor, during his deposition last month, identified the New York Times as the sole source of his claim that President Donald Trump wanted Ukraine to help him get dirt on Joe Biden, transcripts released Wednesday show.
Besides a New York Times article, I have no other information from what the [U.S.] president was thinking, he declared under questioning by Rep. Lee Zeldin (R-NY) during his October 22 deposition, given behind closed doors.
The transcripts of his testimony described the Zeldin-Taylor exchange as follow:
Zeldin: What was the goal of requesting investigations into 2016 election and [Ukrainian company that employed Hunter] Burisma?
Taylor: As I understand it from one of the maybe the article in the New York Times about [Trumps private lawyer] Mr. [Rudy] Giulianis interest in Burisma, in that article, he describes, and I think he quotes Giuliani at some length, that article indicates that Giuliani was interested in getting some information on Vice President Biden that would be useful to Mr.Giulianis client. I think thats what he says. He says hes got one client, and hes useful to the client.
Zeldin: And then its your inference that Mr. Giulianis goal would be the Presidents goal?
Taylor: Yes.
Zeldin: And your source is the New York Times?
Taylor: Yes.
Zeldin: So do you have any other source that the Presidents goal in making this request was anything other than the New York Times?
Taylor: I have not talked to the president. I have no other information from what the President was thinking.

Thank you. I really appreciate the context in which you made that post. Said it all in nine words.
Good Job.
Bump
PDJT flipped fake news against the left who used the expression first. The two-hop spying on the entire Trump team is practically unknown because we keep hearing about spying on Carter Page or spying on George Papa. With only two extra words, people would know what FISA spying is really about.
We describe their illegal or unethical actions as a joke or a hoax when we should use words like smear or coup attempt.
“Are we scraping the bottom of the barrel for diplomats?”
Generally, yes.
Guess we need to subpoena the NYT and under oath tell where they got the information. If the NYT cites the 1st Amendment, cite the NYT for obstruction! Thats the way you do it....
We had a pseudo president who got his information from the news.
Worked for him so no wonder these mole people. ( underground dwellers). Feel thats a credible source
Great summary. Throw in all the one off schemes to enrich themselves and no wonder our government is populated by grifters
Yup.....
Well, that and the fact that Trump explicitly asked for this dirt as a precondition of receiving military aid.
