For 20 years, political junkies of all persuasions have been tuning in five nights a week to watch Chris Matthews grill the days top troublemakers on MSNBCs Hardball.
But it wasnt until he was missing from the anchor chair for a few nights this fall that his fans learned why hed gone MIA: The network announced that Matthews was one of the more than 174,000 men diagnosed with prostate cancer every year, and he had undergone surgery to take care of it.
Here, Matthews talks with Mens Health about how he found out, what he did about it, and how he recovered from the cancer that will hit one in nine men over their lifetime:

I hate to say this, but maybe that tingle he felt was the first sign.
I would not wish that on any man. Having said that, you know.... happy kind people tend to live longer and healthier lives. Everyone I ever knew who died of cancer was grumpy unhappy and cynical. Just saying. And dont ask me what I think of Chris Mathews because I dont have anything nice to say.
Maybe Chris really did say “tinkle”, and we thought it was “tingle”.
Glad to hear it, Chris. Now get lost.
I didn’t know he even had a dick.
beat me to it. He should pray to his god obamatard for guidance and the holy tingle..
And did he get the best health care available? Did he get the care that he and his ilk would deny the rest of us, if he and his ilk ever succeed in forcing socialized medicine down our throats?
He should have let his boyfriend check it more often.
CHRIS’ CANCER IS IN HIS BRAIN.
He did.
Based on his views, his Prostate must be inside his Cranium.
Things I dont want people to open up about.....
1. Jeffrey Dahmers favorite recipes.
2. Kim Kardashians favorite muppet, or really, anything.
3. Hillary Clintons biggest turn ons.
4. Chris Matthews prostrate problems.
He needs to experience rationed Medicare for all. No preferences, no private care and no leaving the country for care. Just like all the peasants.
Couldn’t happen to a better nitwit.
I never understood the whole breast cancer awareness syndrome, which causes male athletes to wear pink for a month in some sort of show of solidarity. How about prostate awareness month for a disease that strikes men at a higher ratet per 100,0000 than the breast cancer rate for women.
[doctor] Chris, it’s cancer.
[Chris] How will the world live without me?
“happy kind people tend to live longer and healthier lives. Everyone I ever knew who died of cancer was grumpy unhappy and cynical”
You are an effin idiot.
You have just insulted everyone who has lost someone to cancer on this page. My mother, the most kind woman on the plane died of pancreatic cancer at age 73 .Never ever said a cuss word in her life and was the most Christian woman I have ever met.
And actually I think the opposite is true. The most insufferable, nastiest people I have known lived to an old age.
Ive delt with this cancer, so far so good. It happens, so face it and move on. Theres a lot worse issues in the cancer world to worry about. God help the ones I knew with worse and those dealing with worse now. Sometimes we get the bear. Sometimes we dont, but surrender is not an option.
