The bright spots are the victories of Tate Reeves as governor of Mississippi and the GOPs statewide margins in Kentucky in all races, except the gubernatorial contest.
The mitigations are the Kentucky governors battle, which as of Wednesday morning the Associated Press said was too close to call, though other outlets called it for the Democrat and the loss of both houses of the Virginia legislature for the first time in 20 years.

Rush read a tweet from last night, that said Bevin tried to primary McConnell and lost. Then Bevin did not endorse him for the general. And the fact that Bevin is a yankee carpet bagger didnt help either.
I’ve already established a fallback position in WV and recommend that others do the same. I was hoping to ride it out until retirement, but the timetable appears to be accelerating.
There’s simply no salvaging VA. This isn’t a midwest state where you have some white blue collar people still under the illusion that this is the Democrat party of old and just need a little more convincing. VA is getting flooded with immigrants and government workers who simply have nothing in common with normals. Time to cut bait.
Well there looks to be a recount and who knows, maybe, just maybe there will be a slew of missed votes found and they will mostly go to Bevin.
That is not going to happen
5,000 vote deficit might as well be 5 million
Recounts never turn elections with that large of a vote difference
If it was 50, different story
Unfettered immigration of all types is a fatal disease.
The Bush Plan for North Mexico (aka USA) is proceeding as planned.
Every Senator that votes for amnesty KNOWS he is voting for a permanent Democrat majority.
Micro Rubio and Flimsey Grahamnesty are just the two most vocal about the need for amnesty.
“Conservative Virginians have plenty of reasons to be planning their escape before the full onset of communism.”
I read the GOP didn’t contest 25% of the seats. If true, one could say if you don’t play you can’t win.
It is clear the Dems put on a big get out the vote campaign. How many conservatives decided not to vote? If you don’t vote, you deserve what you get.
My sister lives in Galax and has had her house for sale for six months planning her escape. Her youngest graduates in May and she and her hubby have bought a small farm in east Tennessee. When she got married she lived in Minnesota for about 12 yrs and they left that state because of high taxes and doctors being targeted for higher taxes. Virginia seems to be following suite.
In FR postings so far none have mentioned what voter turnouts were in those states having elections. Any analysis of the results which doesn’t include turnout is worthless when considering the impact on the 2020 potential result.
Kentucky has never reelected a Republican Governor. Mississippi is totally red in state government for the first time ever as is every KY statewide job below the Governor. Both houses of the KY legislature are heavily red so it will make for an interesting 4 years.
The more people who leave, the lower their census count and electoral potency.
The real solution is to halt all immigration, but that’s only part of the problem. As many including Rush have pointed out, it’s white college “educated” women who are driving the lunatic lurch of the left.
My impression of the turnout in soviet VA yesterday is that it was higher than any off year election than I’ve ever seen - on par with midterm years.
‘Republicans’ need to start showing some gratitude
Trump shouldn’t campaign in Virginia.
Bush League Republicans still control the VA GOP.
That’s the way Dems win in the Purple and Blue states.
but those boxes of uncounted ballots....and all those dem votes from dead people, dogs, cats and parakeets....ya never know.
sorry red states.
You had an election where only 31% of registered voters even bothered to vote. Instead of blaming 27,000 nitwits who voted for the Libertarian candidate, why dont you ask yourself what happened to the 300,000-500,000 people in Kentucky who voted for candidates like Donald Trump and Rand Paul in recent elections but couldnt even get their asses to a voting booth yesterday?
He should campaign everywhere, like he always has.
That’s how you win an electoral college Presidential election, just as the founders intended.
Bevin was a horrible candidate. He could have been the savior for the teachers pensions which was failing because Jr. Breshears daddy looted their pension for other spending when he was gov. The teachers stared wailing like 6th graders and showing their asses and Bevin got down in the mud with them and started name calling. I really lost all respect for the teachers in this state over their cry sack behavior. And I am witnessing their results working in a community college. The students they are graduating can barely function and write a coherent sentence and most of th time they cannot.
Still Bevin put tens of millions back into the retirement fund, all unappreciated by the “educators” of the state. I work in higher ed. in KY and those tens of millions came out of our hides. My department alone went from ten full time employees to five and our budget was slashed on top of that. I would love to shove my foot up the ass of the “educators” bitching and moaning about how bad they have been treated. Still after taking hits from Bevin, we voted for him recognizing, he had issues but Jr. is going to be a disaster.
Bevin called the (R) legislature back into special session and gets nothing essentially on the pensions and they took a political beating and what they did kicked the can down the road and they actually looted the teachers health care pension which was as stupid as daddy Breshears.
Plus in Kentucky there have been three Republican governors since 1970 and Bevin just said things that set people off when he didn’t need too.
I suspect that the new Republican Attorney General will run for Governor and likely win. Unfortunately we will have to wait four years to find out.
