GOP lawmaker invokes possibility of 'civil war' after House votes on Trump impeachment procedures
The Hill ^ | 10/31/2019 | Aris Folley

Posted on 10/31/2019 3:49:32 PM PDT by Crazieman

Rep. Louie Gohmert (R-Texas) said on Thursday that House Democrats’ ongoing inquiry into the president's dealings in the Ukraine is “about to push this country to a civil war if they were to get their wishes.”

Gohmert, speaking after the House voted along party lines to approve a measure establishing procedures for the impeachment process, added, “And if there’s one thing I don’t want to see in my lifetime, I don’t want to ever have participation in, it’s a civil war. Some historian, I don’t remember who, said, guns are only involved in the last phase of a civil war."

During his address on the House floor Thursday afternoon, Gohmert said that while some say the vote “was very important,” he believes it “didn’t do so much.”

The Texas Republican further contended that he is still of the opinion that the House will “not end up having a vote in this chamber on whether or not to actually impeach President Trump because if that happens, it goes to the Senate,” where he predicted it would get a “slam dunk down” on the basis of “massive failure of due process, as well as no evidence, no direct evidence of any wrongdoing.”

Look at Antifa. I'm still waiting for ANY DEMOCRAT to denounce them.

Unfortunately, the Democrats are out to destroy the Constitution for "our own good". The 1st and 2nd Amendments should be "evolved" to make room for current sensibilities.
Hate speech should be illegal. (1st dead)
All guns should be registered, and certain classes of guns banned, and confiscated.(2nd Dead)
Federal "Red Flag" laws must be put in place so that "pre-crime" can be properly controlled.(5th, 6th and 8th dead.)

The Constitution was written by Old White Slaveholders, and has no bearing on modern realities.

Explain, again, how a civil war is a Bad Thing, if it saves the most successful country in human history...

Sometimes I think Demorrhoids want to start a shooting war. It’s the only way tyrants can take over. Permanently.

I’d sooner get the whole thing started so it can be ended the quicker.

Yep, it would be over real quick. You better get your picnic basket out and go stake out a front row seat before it’s over...

On the morning of July 21, 1861, a throng of sightseers, including Senators and Congressmen, rode out from Washington to Centreville, Virginia, to watch the Union Army rout the upstart rebels and march on to Richmond.

“They came in all manner of ways, some in stylish carriages, others in city hacks, and still others in buggies, on horseback and even on foot. Apparently everything in the shape of vehicles in and around Washington had been pressed into service for the occasion. It was Sunday and everybody seemed to have taken a general holiday; that is all the male population, for I saw none of the other sex there, except a few huckster women who had driven out in carts loaded with pies and other edibles. All manner of people were represented in this crowd, from the most grave and noble senators to hotel waiters.”

“On the hill beside me there was a crowd of civilians on horseback, and in all sorts of vehicles, with a few of the fairer, if not gentler sex …. The spectators were all excited, and a lady with an opera glass who was near me was quite beside herself when an unusually heavy discharge roused the current of her blood —‘That is splendid, Oh my! Is not that first rate? I guess we will be in Richmond tomorrow.’ ”

It was laughable when Alcee Hastings spoke so eloquently about this process....Fall down laughable - idiotic. It was a hearing of some kind yesterday when I forget who - perhaps my own Congressman Rob Woodall (GA) - who when passing the questioning on to Hastings said something along the lines of “not knowing anyone more knowledgeable about the subject (impeachment)”. Hastings never flinched! Not exactly his words but it was close and while I think Woodall is pretty much of a milquetoast, I was proud of him at that moment. You wouldn’t know by observing Hastings that he’d ever served in any government position with anything but distinction! AND the fools in FL elected him to Congress!

“”In 1988, the Democratic-controlled United States House of Representatives took up the case, and Hastings was impeached for bribery and perjury by a vote of 413–3. He was then convicted on October 20, 1989, by the United States Senate, becoming the sixth federal judge in the history of the United States to be removed from office by the Senate. The Senate, in two hours of roll calls, voted on 11 of the 17 articles of impeachment. It convicted Hastings of eight of the 11 articles. The vote on the first article was 69 for and 26 opposed.[1]””

I don’t know about a shooting war, but it calls for civil disobedience. We go to town on election day, and don’t let democrats vote. Break their machine. Do something. It’s time. They’ll loose their bowels over that knowing it’s coming from the bedrock strata of America.

I think what he is saying it is better to start now in order to get it over with quicker...rather than to let your children have to deal with it. He wasn’t saying he thinks it would be over quickly...

The American "revolution" was just that... A "revolution"... Initiated by freedom-loving colonists against not only King George, but against the 40-to-50 percent of the colonists who loved the status quo: Serfs groveling to their masters...

It was not a "civil war" then and it will not be a "civil war" now... It will be, if it comes to that, a "revolution" against our communist oppressors AND those 40-to-50 percent of the current serfs comfortable with their status quo...

Lost in most discussions about the post-war American revolution is the terrible retribution visited against those "comfortable" serfs... Many who managed to survive fled to Canada...

This would do it. "Fisch" or CIAmarella.

“Adam Fisch has to be killed by a Prumt supporter. You said that I could see the future? Well, this is what I see if Fisch is killed by a Prumt-loving smelly Walmart hillbilly: his assassination will absolutely flip the narrative in our favor. Poor Adam Fisch will become an instant martyr, murdered while he was searching for truth and justice against the evil forces of Harold Prumt. By the next day’s news cycle, people will think that Prumt pulled the trigger himself. The new narrative will write itself: ‘Harold Prumt was so afraid of being impeached, that he sent out dog whistles calling for Fisch to be assassinated.’ The Fisch assassination will totally derail Hardum’s investigation. Fisch will lie in state under the Capitol dome; it’ll be glorious. That moron will be more use to us dead than alive. In a very real sense, his murder will be the final article of impeachment; it’ll seal the deal. Then, in the passion of the moment, we’ll get at least twenty Republicans to vote to convict… and we’ll finally be able to drag Harold Prumt out of the White House.”

So was Hastings also the author of the Whistle Blower Act??

The WBA legalizes the Coup, in my opinion.

No shooting war. Just stop obeying the law like Antifa, sanctuary cities, marijuana, California, New York, etc. If we all acted like Antifa or the Congress, we would have a lawless country. Hell, we do have a lawless country. Congress violates their oath of office every day.

Republicans should start talking about banning the Democrat party as a domestic terrorist organization for their attempted, continuing coup attempt.

Our history is based on honoring the results of elections. The Democrat party is going against that tradition. Without accepting the results of elections, we become a third-world country that is run by power and corruption.

The Democrats are treading on dangerous ground that could have long-lasting implications for the United States of American.

Whatever happened to this law?
“The Communist Control Act (68 Stat. 775, 50 U.S.C. 841-844) is a piece of United States federal legislation, signed into law by President Dwight Eisenhower on 24 August 1954, which outlaws the Communist Party of the United States and criminalizes membership in, or support for the Party or “Communist-action” organizations and defines evidence to be considered by a jury in determining participation in the activities, planning, actions, objectives, or purposes of such organizations.”

“Gohmert is one of the few genuine Representatives”

He’s feeding at the government trough, like the rest of them. When he quits and takes a defensive (at the least) position in real life, I might take him seriously. Until then, he’s just padding his gov built nest with whatever funds he can grab his mitts on.
It takes actions, not BS words, to impress me.

I can see some antifa-types rioting after Trump’s historic landslide victory, but that’s about it.

If it gets pushed, don't worry. You can hide in the back with the children.

My son, do not walk the road with them or set foot upon their path. For their feet run to evil, and they are swift to shed blood. How futile it is to spread the net where any bird can see it.
