'A beautiful dog': Trump wants heroic Belgian Malinois in Baghdadi raid to visit White House
The Washington Examiner ^ | October 29, 2019 | Caitlin Yilek

President Trump wants the heroic dog who cornered the world’s most wanted terrorist to visit the White House.

Trump released on Monday night a photo of the dog, whose name has not been declassified. The canine is credited with chasing Islamic State leader Abu Bakr al Baghdadi through an underground tunnel in Syria before the terrorist detonated a suicide vest, killing himself and three of his children.

An invite to the White House has not yet been extended to the Belgian Malinois, but Trump wants to meet the canine, a senior administration official told ABC News.

Gen. Mark Milley, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, said Monday the dog was "slightly wounded” but had “returned to duty.”

Trump credited the dog in his remarks Sunday with preventing any injuries to U.S. forces.

“Our dog was hurt,” Trump said while announcing Baghdadi’s death. “Actually, the K-9 was hurt, went into the tunnel. But we lost nobody.”

“It's incredible that nobody was killed or hurt. We had nobody even hurt. And that's why the dog was so great,” he said.

Trump described the animal as “a beautiful dog, a talented dog.”

The White House did not immediately respond to the Washington Examiner’s request for comment.

You just do not want to get on the wrong side of a Delgian Malenois. Alsatians are sweet compared with this guy, according to what I read.

The handler will know if this dog is good around strangers. Some are, some aren’t. I would hope Trump had asked first before letting the public know about the invite.

below a quote from my daily political journal.

She’s a Belgian Malinois. She’s America’s Hero for the day. Her name is Conan, as in “Barbarian”.

Though no U.S. forces were killed in the Saturday evening raid that led to the death of an ISIS leader, one military working dog suffered severe injuries in the line of duty.
The dog, whose name and breed remain unknown, chased Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi into a tunnel and cornered him. With no place to go, the terrorist leader blew himself up along with three of his children, who he was using as human shields.

She’s been the subject of much admiration across the fruity plains. Because Americans love their dogs.

The Muslims? Not so much.

So Conan chased the fabulous, per the Washington Post, Al-Baghdadi into a tunnel where he set off his vest to blow himself, and his three innocent children, to smithereens. For a while it was being reported that the military dog died in the scuffle but now we hear she is alive and proud of her canine self.

I once had a Belgian Malinois. Had her for 13 years. Loved her to bits.

A Malinois is not for the meek. DO NOT GET ONE OF THESE DOGS UNLESS YOU CAN CONTROL HURRICANES AND FOREST FIRES!

My but she was wonderful. My but how I miss her.

To: I want the USA back

I asked yesterday on a thread if the dog was a Shepard or a Belgian Malinois now I know!!! These dogs are HUGELY expensive, then the $250,000.00 to train them!!! We had someone on our Nextdoor app. that had purchased a Belgian Malinois and was trying to sell it because the dog is a working dog!!! The dog was left alone all day while the guy was at work and this breed REALLY NEEDED to be exercised someone to run with him, play ball with him, AND train him!!! The guy paid $2200.00 for the dog and wanted to sell him for $500.00 our local police department purchased him and now he is in training to be a police officer GOOD DOGGIE!!!

Easy - a Porterhouse steak!!

I had a Malinois mix. He was the best. I’d buy him big thigh bones from the butcher. On special occasions, we’d split Porterhouse or Salmon (he loved the skin) and for dessert... Frosty Paws! Honestly, they were his favorite.

Would LOVE to see Pres. Trump make some joke along the lines off “well she’s so good at tracking down terrorists and other malicious people, we’re gonna see if she can help us sniff out the leakers in the White House”

that’ll get Big Media’s heads exploding

This is the sum total of the Belgian contribution to the war on the inbred Manson family.

I’m pleased you’re not worried about it. Neither am I. We just have different reasons for not worrying about it. :)

They are very smart and will know that PDJT is a good man

Probably. But Trump is NOT a dog person. He has never really liked dogs – as you can deduce from his wholly negative use of the phrase "like a dog." Plus, as a fastidious person (remember the not-shaking-hands thing from years ago?) Trump has always had an aversion to dogs' drool and such, and has never had pet dogs.

This is about the only aspect of life about which I'm not on the same page as Trump.

The Mali at my feet would beg to differ.
The neighbors & mailman are scared, but he is as friendly as any other dog...just the way I like it.
Best dog I have ever had.

"Trump should get one of these dogs for his family."

Not a good idea. I would RATHER see this dog 'greet' the American press "corpse" with the same intensity and hostility she greeted "Body-Bag-Daddy" with..

Conan deserves a medal awarded by President Trump. After all, she OUTRANKS her handler and proved her priceless worth in battle.

I have no idea how this brave pooch survived a suicide vest detonation by Body-Bag-Daddy but that alone should earn her a Purple Heart!

President Trump will invite her to the White House and surprise her with combat medals along with her favorite TREATS!!!

The neighbors and the mailman should be scared!

Good Mali!

I’ve met one Malinois on a couple of dog hikes with mostly shepherds, and I have to say I loved her.

She had black socks and a black mask. Very slender, very muscular, active alert and friendly. She let me pet her several times, but sadly I don’t recall her name.
