"One big orgy." That's the stereotype about the lifestyle of consensual non-monogamy an arrangement where committed partners openly agree to have sexual relationships with other people.
But people who have practiced non-monogamy for years say it's not all wild sex or even all that wild. It takes a lot of work, and it carries a lot of stigma. There can be serious consequences for the family life and even careers of those involved.
"Many people are trying to create families in different kinds of ways. And a lot of people see that as dangerous," Diana Adams, a Brooklyn-based lawyer who represents polyamorous families, says in the CBSN Originals documentary, "Non-monogamy."
She advises clients in non-monogamous relationships to be careful about telling their employers. She's seen some lose their jobs over it.

i work very closely with a woman who is “poly-amorous” (same thing as consensual non-monogomy). She’s 30 years old.
She’s very attractive... her main squeeze, whom she lives with is a fat, nasty beta male. She routinely bangs other dudes, even in the room in her house she says “is set up for sex with others”. beta boy drops her off at other dudes’ houses for the night too! lol
She told a few of us at a happy hour recently that she’s nailed ~50 dudes in the present poly relationship she’s in.
She’s obviously got something pathological going on, but damn...
There is a massive community around all of this. whatever blows your skirt I guess.
All that “swapping” I did long ago was fun and somehow I survived it.
Here we go. A Democrat is caught in bad behavior, and the MSM is already putting a spin on it.
“My wife has cut me down to once a month, I’m lucky I know two guys she cut off completely.” - Rodney Dangerfield
Imagine having four Mothers-in-Law.
Does the girl who has banged 50 guys have a favorite sports team? She could hook up with an NFL team.
Fighting the stigma of consensual non-monogamy...
I know some married guys who are fighting FOR a stigma against monogamous sex, or any sex after some years of marriage :)
50 guys!!??
Heck, you need a Hazmat suit just to work near her.
I know a couple of women friends who tried it.
They are both now in monogamist relationships.
The plus is it gives them the freedom to do what they want.
The downside is it almost always ends badly.
I’m just they both found a honorable guy before it was too late.
Leaving moral and religious teachings out of it, the evolutionary biologists have always had a pretty compelling argument on this point. From a reproductive standpoint, men are capable of, and in "selfish gene" terms benefit from, sowing their seed widely, fathering as many children with as many different women as possible. Women, on the other hand, conceive and bear children (at some personal risk and great physical burden on themselves), and become the natural caregivers for a considerable number of years after birth.
Traditional moral teachings and social norms attempted to control the socially destructive consequences of this asymmetry by inducing men to discipline their tendency towards promiscuity and commit to a family. The quid pro quo was female chastity, to reassure men that the children they were raising would usually be their own.
One can argue over which sex made the greater sacrifice in this grand bargain. In general, however, it seems clear from historical examples that women and children are the great losers in highly promiscuous societies. But that's along story for another day.
The sexual revolutionaries now believe that, with contraception, the abortion license and government welfare guaranties to replace a husband's income, promiscuity can be made safe for women. This is not working out well, but it's the sex positive theory and they're sticking to it.
When I was a student, teachers used to contrast Brave New World and 1984 and ask whether Huxley or Orwell was the better prophet. It is now clear, however, that the left regards both books as guides, with the aim of forging a synthesis: political and news media arrangements per Orwell, and social/sexual norms per Huxley. I don't think the left will ultimately succeed because both dystopian visions are fundamentally opposed to inherent human nature. But there have been a lot of casualties, measured in aborted babies and blighted lives, and there will be millions more to come, as our corrupted society rediscovers reality.
We are so numb to the daily drum beat of paganality, sin, and corruption that we aren't even reacting any more.
Think of this:
Yep that is the usual story.
When she turns about 45, things start to switch and the guys get tired of being used as a door mat.
She now has no real work record, the guys stop calling and she is out of luck with only 2-3 ways out and a short time to do it.
It takes two to tango.
What is more tedious than entwined bodies without love?
She sounds like a free range ho.
And for now, they're just asking for acceptance.
That's how it all starts ... "We just want to be accepted" or "We just want to be left alone". Then, once that threshold is reached, the rest of the demands begin: no longer is it just acceptance or non-interference.
Human Petri dish.
Yes, but I know guys with around 5- 10 partners and the one girl in the mix probably has banged at least a hundred guys.
