Ohio High School Athletic Association officials said Thursday they were right to disqualify a cross country runner from a race because she wore a hijab, but the organization is considering changes to its rules to prevent the issue from happening again.
Per OHSAAs current rules, cross country runners are barred from wearing most head coverings, like hats and caps, unless they have a signed and approved exception waiver granting them special permission for religious restrictions or otherwise.

Local Miami news is pumping this Ohio story.
It seems like “most head coverings” would be a disadvantage to the runner, and there’s no reason the runner shouldn’t be allowed to disadvantage him- or herself. Run in a Darth Vader costume, if your coach will let you. (He won’t.)
So procedures are already in place that the participant didn't comply with.
No changes necessary, other than the participant knowing and following the existing accommodations.

She should have gotten her waiver. Probably deliberately didn’t because her imam told her to do it otherwise.
If you don't like our culture, just stay TF in your s***hole.
I’m not seeing the athletic purpose of this articular rule. If it were amended to allow non-endorsed, simple head wear (no logos for companies, political statements, etc.) it would not affect competition.
A school logo would be fine to me, or unadorned.
I’m used to seeing cross country runners wearing stocking caps and the like - plain head wear that keeps them comfortable. The hijab, as much as it is deeply meaningful to muslims, is just another such hat to me in this scenario.
I enjoy the cognitive dissonance of liberals (feminists) as they attempt to bow to Islam and feminism at the same time.
She was wearing it in memory of those muzzies killed in those airplane accidents on 9/11
Hijab is generally barred from sporting activities because if it gets tangled or caught in something it can snap the neck.
meanwhile they would not think twice about beheading the infidel’s who shielded the player...
Yep. These Muslims come to live in our country and we now have to change all our rules just for them.
I wonder if they would change the rules for us if we lived in their countries?
Note the Nike “swoosh” on the hijab.
Muhammad approves!
If you’re that devoted shouldn’t you be at home NOT participating in sports or learning to read or anything?
When it’s muzzies, officials willingly bow down in submission and do the bidding of their new masters.
So, waivers for religious exemptions and death cults it is!
It seems reasonable to allow ladies to run in headdresses if they so choose.
Somebody did something.
