Dont find fault with the 1911’s 7 round mag in that situation. There it is merely your means to the availability of the 12 gauge pump or AK with a drum mag in the trunk.
Situational awareness is always paramount.
I've never had a problem with anything Sig-Saur. They make a nice 911.
S&W Model 69. L frame. 4.25” barrel. 5 rds .44mag. Stainless steel.
I fault the selections in the trunk. I prefer an AK shotgun with multiple drum magazines because some places Ive been thats exactly whats called for.
Also, normal life for most people dictates that one spend time a significant distance from their vehicle - which is often where problems occur. Cant bring the shotgun with and all you have is a pistol. IMHO, the low capacity of the 1911 is a problem in encounters Ive had. Great if it works for you, does *not* work for me.
yes, they are common. I’d venture a guess that a Rock Island which is way less money will work better.
I shot a lot competitively, so I’ve still got a Series 70 modified by Ed Brown. My daily carry gun is a Glock 30 .45 ACP
Yes I am aware of Coltss recent announcements and the Marines switching the 19 but its not done yet. None of this changes the fact that the Colt M45A1 is hands down one of the best made 1911s available at ANY price. The M45A1 cuts no corners whatsoever and flat out works right out of the box EVERY time. Which truth be told can not be said for many big name 1911s costing several times more. Right out of the box you can trust an M45A1, a $5k Wilson or Nighthawk or whoever, yes they might be excellent but you better shoot it first to be sure as many are not.
I have striven to position myself around as few assholes as possible.
The pump gun is just so I can feel more involved with the moment.
Yeah, Im going to call Colt Fanboyism and bovine excrement on that. Ive seen one M45A1 fail out of the box and theres plenty of other screwup reports on forums.

Ever hear of Jack O’Conner?
Load this puppy up with Winchester 3" PDXs or 000 buck loads for home defense and the Missus is ready to roll, birdshot for the other critters:
I bought a Kimber Target 2 just a few years ago. I have put the required 500 rounds of 230 gr hardball through it without a hiccup. The only issue I ever had was a FTF with a certain brand of aftermarket magazine. The only thing I dont like is the match grade trigger fit seems a bit sloppy.
There were people that managed to get good, working, reliable Yugos too.
The point is, yes, you may have gotten a good one. That may or may not be indicative of the rest of the production run as a whole - the rapidly increasingly common complaints about Kimber indicate that your outcome is increasingly unlikely for someone buying a new one.
