That’s not even close to what the ammunition will look like.

It’s way past time that 5.56 got replaced. It was inadequate in Vietnam (if the M16s actually managed to fire). Talk about putting contractors and bureaucrats ahead of the troops.

Is there such a thing as an official NATO round and weapon standard?

.. or is technology evolving like our NATO relationship that will eventually create huge black markets for old ammo&weaponry? just like the old days.

So, with this new weaponry for ‘assaults’ can we now keep our ARs as NOT assault weapons?... Stupid question, self, leftists think 1022s are assault weapons.

From what I have read and actually tested myself, the 5.56 with the heavy bullets does fine in several respects.

It shoots flat, penetrates well, and has low recoil. The real problem is that it does not hit hard. Part of that is due to the short barrels in the M4.

They could probably do a lot worse than the 6.5X50, Jap.

I wonder if Ruger will make a mini-14 in this new caliber it is adopted by the Army?

Sounds like a good compromise. 5.56 has proven inadequate, and the 7.62 NATO round is almost uncontrollable in a light enough rifle.

This Exotic Bullpup Rifle Is Competing To Replace The Army's M4 Carbines And M249 SAWs
This is the only entry in the Army's competition to use a bullpup configuration and it has other unique features, such as a recoiling barrel assembly.

I don’t like bullpups. They don’t have a shoulder thing that goes up.

The 6.5 Grendel has better long range ballistics.

Cool. When is the Army officially going to adopt the ‘’pinks and greens’’ WW2 style uniform? That outfit looks awesome, like what a member of the US Army should be uniformed in.

For a long time I have wondered why don’t they change the 3 round burst to two, and have every other round in the mag, an Ap with the other a 55 grain.

Use two round burst as standard with the semi auto when it doesn’t matter what bullet is used. Also go back to 20 inches. That is still a pretty short barrel. Have the sights aligned for the 68 grain ap. The close range with the 55 grain would make little difference.
