Sen. Elizabeth Warren lent her voice to teachers striking in Chicago on Tuesday, addressing a rally of teachers as they called for smaller class sizes and better pay.
"Im here to stand for everyone one of the people who stand for our children every day. Everyone in America should support you in this strike, and the reason is when you go out to fight you dont fight for yourselves: you fight for the children of this city and the children of this country," Warren said.
"The eyes of this nation are on you... for you to show how the power of standing together is the power of making real change in this country," the Democratic presidential candidate said.
Warrens appearance in Chicago comes as the strike reaches its sixth day, and the third school day where teachers were not in classrooms.
"I believe in public education and I believe it is time in America to make a new investment in public education and I've got a plan for that," Warren said.

Just fire every damn one of them and shut the doors, then send the kids home.
Anyone remember the Wisconsin protests in 2011? I bet this turns into the same thing.
Public schrewls teaching sexual perversions, socialism and anti-Christian principles. Eff em.
I could fix this very quickly. Kill the union, give every teacher a 25% raise, and the teachers share costs for their health and retirement benefits. Give bonuses to teachers whose students excel.
This kills the politics and ensures teachers have skin in the game.
Early Chicago WLS am 890 talk host Mancow ripped her a deserved new one on todays 10/23 show. If you live in the midwest his show is a must listen to and offers a hope for change in Illinois and Chicago
Before she was out bribing for votes, Warren was for charter schools. Democrats must forget we have video tapes.
Yes, I’m all for the strike. The less time students spend in Public School, the smarter they will be.
If they are looking for me to support any kind of a public worker’s strike, they better keep looking.
Their so called public servant feel it’s owed to them. All of it.
Chicago “educators” mainly abuse the children through crappy teaching and indoctrination. Someone living in that LIB hell hole should turn them in to the DFS. Their going on strike would be a plus for the children. Pathetic but expected.
How about we support the students, instead, and abolish teacher unions?
- Contribute to liberal politicians,
- Refuse to provide students with a productive education,
- Use "class size" to expand the number of dues paying teachers and administrators.
- Use the schools to promote anti-American, Godless, socialism.
Is their product improving???
Not by any standard you should see the California failure rate too.
I’m glad I gave up teaching and went into the Army 45 years ago. I did not then and do not now believe that teachers should never ever go on strike.
Reminds me of another memorable opinion - when Peter Strzok opined that Hillary Clinton should win 100,000,000 0
Its so awful.
On about Aug. 25, Mayor Lightfoot should have offered a 2% raise. If the teachers didn’t approve by Sept. 25, they should have been replaced by substitute teachers.
I went to a one room grade school.
14 kids
8 grades 1 teacher with 2 years of college.
NO UNION teachers
Local property owners were the school board.
They examined & approved all of our textbooks.
High school I had classes that consistently had 33-35 students.
ONE teacher—because WE ALL SPOKE ENGLISH
We were respectful of those teachers & the overall conditions.
The worst ‘bad ass’ kids in the high school had ‘ducktail haircuts’ & smoked. Maximum of problem.
Trucks in parking lot hd guns on racks in cabs during hunting season. NEVER a problem.
I will put MY education up against anything these kids are ‘learning’ today.
We also were taught REAL math-—Cursive writing—and hoe to cook & sew. Shop classes were productive.
Can she fire them? I don’t think she can.
