When Mitt Romney was asked if he had a secret Twitter account under the name Pierre Delecto, the former presidential candidate simply responded, "Cest Moi."
As expected, it didn't take long for political junkies to begin speculating the meaning behind Mitt's choice of "Pierre Delecto" as his lurker Twitter handle and some of these predictions are pretty convincing.

I cannot make up my mind. Is this normal for a politician?

Yes. It is a form of assuming a peasant’s disguise to hear what the peasants are saying.

Let’s break down the psychology of it.
When you really truly think you are smarter than the room (any room) but not only do you think you don’t get recognized for it, you were rebuffed and torn apart by the political system you have invested in for so long, then you look for a way to express your grand thoughts.
It’s not good enough to have a twitter and support others who you agree with. In fact, you fear the backlash that will inevitably occur whenever you take a position. It’s going to come from at least one camp, if not many. Anonymity is a strange irony. It gives you the pleasure of being able to freely express yourself and even lash out without personally owning the causality of those expressions, but it is frustrating in that your narcissism is not stroked and people do not get to recognize you for the genius that you think you are.

It will be funny to watch Romney when he himself is asked the meaning of the name. IMHO after Romney did his missionary stint in France, he was the one who got converted to a different lifestyle and way of thinking.

Which is exactly what led to the downfall of the Unabomber.

Good point. I enjoy my relative anonymity on here although I don’t typically express anything overly radical that I wouldn’t want to own even if it was in my name, and also I am not a public figure. I am not a U.S. Senator incognito, I promise.
What is unique about Romney’s situation is how it can be revealing. I don’t actually blame Romney for the temptation to vent certain opinions that he wouldn’t want to publicly own. I am sure it’s definitely a powerful temptation for someone who probably disagrees with so many people that he smiles and agrees with when he is face to face with, but I’ll stop short of calling him two faced though. What is revealing is what he says when he thinks no one knows it is him.

I for one have always thought that Mitt is a smart guy. Were he not, he would not be where he is today, and prosperous enough to shop for a residence where he can stand a good chance of getting elected senator.
But after reading of his internet pseudonym, and of his love of posting anonymously, I am wondering if Mitt has a legitimate claim of being a stable genius.

Exactly. This is going to be interesting the next couple of days. I am sure the internet is being searched as we post, for traces of Pierre Delecto's opinions.
Mitt, we hardly knew you.
