A question about Ellen DeGeneres and former President George W. Bushs friendship drew the ire of Democratic presidential candidates and viewers alike following Tuesday nights debate hosted by CNN and The New York Times.
After the three-hour televised event, viewers and some Democratic hopefuls slammed debate moderator Anderson Coopers final question of the evening, which did not focus on what many thought could have been more important issues, like climate change.
Last week, Ellen DeGeneres was criticized after she and former President George W. Bush were seen laughing together at a football game. Ellen defended their friendship, saying, Were all different and I think that weve forgotten that thats OK, that were all different, Cooper said to the 12 candidates onstage.
So in that spirit, wed like you to tell us about a friendship that youve had that would surprise us and what impacts its had on you and your beliefs.
Hey, lets do 20 closing minutes on that Ellen/Bush meme thing. Immigration and climate change can wait until the next debate if the world is still here, another user tweeted.

I’d vote for the Kim Kardashian or Kanye West over any of the candidates on the DNC stage yesterday.
The fact that DirtNap McCain was mentioned three times speaks volumes.
.....Just proves what a treacherous RINO POS McCain was.
yep....why would a Dem liking McCain be surprising?
Diversity is good, remember?
When did diversity instantiate as if you dont agree with X without qualifications, youre Hitler?
Seems to me that McStain was a friend to ALL the democrats and a backstabber to republicans.
Yep McCain seems to be everyone’s favorite Republican , on the Democrat side.
Now is the same Ellen who stated Trump will never be allowed on her show? That ellen?
How come no one is criticizing the Bushes for hanging out with leftwing lezzies? yeah, /s
I didn’t watch any of the debate. Did anyone use the Ellen question to say “as bad as George W. Bush was, Donald Trump is far worse”? Probably that’s what most of them think because the Bush family is in the anti-Trump faction of the Republican Party.
Not surprising. Their both democrats and their both outcasts. So they have a lot in common.
Ellen is FAKE TV nice the way Rosie ODonnell was. As soon as Trump was elected, she announced she would never have him on her show.
What do you have against the Kardashians?
“Id vote for the Kim Kardashian or Kanye West over any of the candidates on the DNC stage yesterday.”
Well, as long as they weren’t running on the D ticket, yes.
viewers and some Democratic hopefuls slammed debate moderator Anderson Coopers final question of the evening
Wake me when they slam Anderson Cooper, period.
"Don't you get it yet? These debates are just window dressing. After I'm nominated at the 2020 convention, I'm going to name Buttpirate as my running mate. Me and him will lead the biggest civil rights revolution since my Democrat forebears imposed Jim Crow! And we're bringing in more Latinos to take over all those jobs in the Hood, and to build more prisons for the you-know-who's. Ah, here's my limo!"
As if you needed any more evidence that these "debates" are simply a SHOW and nothing more.
How much more irrelevant and immaterial can a question get to the subject of the presidency?
Ellen Likes Bush
Yes, that Ellen.
