Elizabeth Warren: Use Excise Taxes to Reduce Gun, Ammo Sales

Her gun control, made public in August on Medium, shows Warren believes the current ten percent excise tax on firearms is too low. She wants to raise that tax to 30 percent while increasing the tax on ammunition to 50 percent.
Because excise taxes are paid directly by the consumerthe taxes are added to the price of the goodsthis means a $500 gun would immediately cost $515 and the price for a $20 box of ammo would immediately rise to $30.

Just in case any Democrat is elected President; in case any Democrat majority takes the House / Senate again;
I highly recommend that every gun owner take up reloading, and put in a good stock of powder, primers and projectiles (and/or bullet molds for casting lead bullets) RIGHT NOW.
It can be done quite inexpensively if you don’t mind taking your time at it, and only need to load for a one or two cartridges.

Been here before. In 1933 FDR wanted to ban full autos (which were available straight to your door). Tommy guns cost $219.00 drop shipped to you back then. FDR went to USSC and asked them about banning them, they said no. So, they taxed them. $200.00 NFA title 2 tax stamp.
Imagine today you want to buy a $40,000 SUV. .gov wants them banned, but cant. So, you get a $40,000.oo "tax" instead.

$500 gun includes the current 10% tax.Correct. Therefore, the price of the gun prior to tax is $454.55.
30% of $454.55 = 136.37
New price would be $590.92

why not tax politician lawyers who lie.
Warren would be taxes $11 million per year
for her claim to be Indian PER YEAR.
10% will go to real Native Americans.
Harvard will be fined $100 million per year
for believing her (penalties going backward, too).

Can we put an excise tax on abortions?
Don’t be absurd. You can’t put a tax on a Constitutionally-enumerated right! It’s right there hiding in the penumbra of the unstated “right to privacy”. The right for an individual to keep and bear arms is found nowhere in the Constitution. Only a “grave error” on the part of SCOTUS overturning centuries of precedent “gave” the right to the individual instead of the states. This will be corrected the next time the democrats control both the White House and Senate.

I used to tell my students: want to ban baseball bats? Slap a $10,000 tax on them. Really want to ban them? Refuse to print and sell the tax stamps. That’s how they originally banned “marihuana” on the Federal level.

So, she’s saying the problem is people have TOO MUCH ammunition? because this tax isn’t going to effect the mass murderers who make a one time purchase for their spree, it will effect the honest owners who practice and use more ammunition than a killer would.
Frankly, it makes no logical sense, the woman is an idiot.
Her bill, as usual punishes the law abiding citizens, not the criminals.
