Four federal prison inmates have been charged after law enforcement say they repeatedly escaped prison only to return each time with contraband.
The men, 34-year-old Julian Lemus, Robert Young, 45, Leo Martinez, 25, and 35-year-old Silvstre Rico were nabbed by U.S. Marshals last week as they escaped from the Beaumont Federal Correctional Institute complex in Texas, according to the Jefferson County Sheriffs Office.
Marshals said that they began surveillance after repeated reports of prisoners continuing to escape and bring back contraband such as whiskey and cellphones into the complex, which houses both low- and medium-security inmates.
Investigators observed 4 males leave the prison grounds and cut through a neighboring ranch. The inmates ran when they saw the Law Enforcement Officers step out of the brush. All 4 inmates were quickly taken into custody, the statement reads.
It remains unclear where the contraband items came from or how the prisoners were escaping from the facility itself.
The four men were charged with escape.

Beats hooch made from prunes or fruit cocktail ;)
I never think it is a good idea to mix prisoners that represent different security levels in the same facility.
I think the most stringent security possible, for preventing escape, needs to be in place no matter the security level of the prisoners.
The only differences with respect the prisoners security level belong in internal operations alone, not in how hard it is to escape.
“Beats hooch made from prunes or fruit cocktail ;)”
Also beats that other prison favorite Jenkem.
I’d let them slide if it were rye whiskey. AND they shared.
And it gets you out for a bit.. :)
Gotta give em credit for coming back each time...
Heck....these crooks aren’t about to give up their taxpayer paid room and board.
They get ALL of the comforts of home, even if they have to sneak out once a week to fetch their whiskey (and no telling what else).
It may be discovered that one of the prisoners was employed part time at a local gas station.
According to the owner; “He was one of our best employees! I never asked where he came from or where he was going after the shift. Weren’t none o’ my business!”
Somebody squealed!

No lotto and no gas out of liquor stores in Texas. That would be next door! TBAC. Texas alphabet agency.
Lawyer would argue that they were just shopping and if his Honor was in prison he would need a drink also!
I forgot about the new store in Viterbo (liquor shop 2)
More likely to be seen there too as you have to pass through a residential area.
Either way, there are a limited number of places they can get whiskey.
