President Trump has played this out perfectly. By isolating Turkish President Recep Erdogan, and effectively leaving him naked to an alliance of his enemies, Erdogan is now urgently asking for the U.S. to mediate peace negotiations with Kurdish forces.
This request happens immediately after President Trump signed an executive order [See Here] triggering the sanction authority of Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin. Erdogan called the White House requesting an urgent phone call with President Trump.
After President Trump talked to Kurdish General Mazloum Kobani Abdi, the commander of the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces, President Trump then discussed the options available to President Erdogan. As a result of that conversation, Erdogan requested the U.S. mediate negotiations. Vice-President Mike Pence announces he will be traveling to the region with National Security Advisor Robert OBrien to lead that effort. WATCH:

Oh and Erdogan is an ISIS supporter and Muslim Brotherhood.
Turks + Kurds = Turds
I don’t like the Turks. I don’t like the Kurds.
Wasting one American life for either or is disgusting and despicable.
Both sides are evil.
500,000 dead in Syria since Obama started this disaster.
Trump is smart to pull troops back and let Allah fight it out......
I agree.
I catch myself second guessing him at times, and have to slap myself up side the head.

He has set the table as follows: Erdogan is hung out to dry with the EU not backing him, his economy about to go in the toilet and the Russians imposing a defacto no fly zone over the areas he has sent his troops and militias into. The Kurds are receiving/welcoming aid/troops from Damascus (their “enemy”) to repel Turkey and are begging for it to stop. (They were belligerent before) We don’t have troops in the middle. Trump is offering to mediate/arbitrate and both sides said yes please when five days ago they would have told us to go to hell on all sides.
As a sweet sweet bonus many religious leaders. policy wonks and our supposed leaders in congress are getting egg facials to be followed by a steaming helping of crow.
I still don’t like the Kurds or the Turks. Snakes, the lot of them.
You had enough time to read. Still going to blow hard at me?
WTF is the matter with you people?

Meep Meep!
Call the whaaambulance! Here is a sad mad who loves the Kurds more than Americans.
Screw the Turks indeed. Russia has been wanting to take out the Turks since Byzantium fell to the Turks under Mehmed II in 1453 AD. Now the idiot Erdogan has Russians on both its northern and southern borders with raging Kurds to the east and the crazy Eastern Europeans to the west. It couldn't happen to a nicer Islamicist.
Bump!

Excellent points.
Screw the Turks indeed.

Where I grew up in a part of Ohio we had a number of Greek families. They didnt immigrate from Greece, they had every thing they owned taken from them and were driven out of Turkey by the Islamic Turks. They were lucky...many less fortunate ethnic Greeks (and other Christian minorities) were murdered by the Turks. The discussions I had with those families formed the seed of my current attitude toward the Turks and to their apologists..
When ISIS rose (with substantial assistance and cooperation from the Turks) Turkey allowed and expedited the travel of ISIS recruits through Turkey to Syria. Erdogan, his family and his associates subsequently profited mightily by trade (oil, etc.) with ISIS. That trade helped finance ISIS. The Erdogan Turks have territorial ambitions for Syrian lands and that is the REAL reason for their invasion.
They deserve whatever adverse consequences are visited upon them.
The saddest part of all of this is that 90% of our fellow citizens are oblivious to the brilliance of Trump who continually thinks outside the box of conventional wisdom to win...... for us.
The media and GOPe and all the soy boys upset with his “mean tweets” refuse to see it or give him credit, but history will judge him more fairly than the present.
I had a neighbor friend in San Diego 30 years ago... he was Muslim.
A good guy.
Sure, it took Trump to make them realize how happy they'll be under Assad's thumb.
They must feel really stupid now for resisting this outcome for all those years
I’m pretty confused due to all of the players over in Syria. I found the following article that was helpful to me. I thought that the Kurds had been fighting Syria. But I was wrong. It seems that Syria had it’s hands full fighting ISIS, and the Kurds were also fighting ISIS without Syria’s help. And the Kurds took control of ISIS territory (in Syria).
But now, with the Kurds needing help, they have agreed to help from Syria, and I presume that they will lose their dream of having their own Kurdish territory.
Lots of the Kurds that we helped are not just muslem, but Communists as well. I was reading another article that Hezbellah has sent troops and arms to the Syrian army awhile ago.
It is a mess over there. Our goals at the time were to get rid of ISIS. So we offered help to the Kurds that were doing that. Reminds of when we helped Osama bin laden’s crowd against the Russians.
This will never be reported in an accurate manner.
