Murder, rape, slavery and genocide. Here’s why California must ditch Columbus Day
Sacramento Bee ^ | October 11, 2019 | The Sacramento Bee Editorial Board

Even by the dismal standards of the 1400s, Christopher Columbus was a terrible human being.

So why does California continue to honor him with his own holiday when other states have already replaced it with Indigenous Peoples’ Day? A brief review of the terrors he unleashed reveals why it’s time to make Columbus Day a relic of the past.

Would Indigenous People's Day celebrate the Aztecs who committed murder, rape, slavery and genocide?

“Would Indigenous People’s Day celebrate the Aztecs who committed murder, rape, slavery and genocide?”

At least Columbus wasn’t a cannibal like many indigenous savages the left wants to celebrate.

I must admit that my knowledge of Columbian history is pretty weak but if what the article says is true then I would have to agree that the liberals and leftists are correct and Columbus was real piece of sh!t.

Having said that, why can’t they accept or admit that Stalin, Mao, Castro and Communism/Socialism are just as bad or even worse?

We could always feed the Sac Bee editorial board to the Aztecs. The Aztecs liked their “long pig” with tomatoes and chilis. As a bonus imagine all those Liberal skulls lining the “tzompantli” in the town square.

This has all been debunked. The overwhelming of the mass death among Indians was the incidental spread of European diseases. Columbus himself felt a certain pity for the Indians from what I have read and wanted to convert them to Christianity.

The last thing they would do is cancel a paid day off for gubermint workers.

Columbus Day was established to buy the votes of northeasterners of Italian descent.

Columbus brought Christianity, which stopped the cannibalism and human sacrifice.

Murder, rape, slavery and genocide were all features of the Americas long before Columbus came from Europe.

At least Columbus didn’t start a political party in defense of slavery, start a civil war that resulted in the deaths of 600k people, start the KKK, Enact Jim Crow laws, defend segregation, and divide the country based on skin color

Meanwhile, the Sacramento River is an open sewer, the streets of San Francisco are littered with human excrement and contaminated needles, and Los Angeles is overrun by rats!

Talk about violence and sadism!

Governor Gavin Newsom apologizes to Native American tribes state violence against their ancestors. Spanish settlers created a mission system that wiped out California Indians.

Man, I am so tired of politicians apologizing for the past when the real damage they're doing is in the present.

Either that, or they can just replace “Columbus Day” with “Stalin Day” and get it over with.

Bartholomew Columbus ( Genoese dialect: Bertomê Corombo; Spanish: Bartolomé Colón; Italian: Bartolomeo Colombo) (c. 1461 – 1515) was an Italian explorer from Genoa and the younger brother of Christopher Columbus .

Maybe I’m missing something but Smith & Wesson Company much less a Smith And Wesson .38 didn’t exist back in the late 1400’s.

There’s no way of documenting Columbus did ANYTHING these Marxists are accusing him of. It’s Climate Change, Kavanaugh, Russian Collusion, Whistleblower type bullshit and that’s all it is.

Shouldn’t California also be condemning the country of Spain and the Catholic Church too? Those beautiful missions like the ones in Ventura and San Juan Capistrano were certainly not built by the Spanish missionaries themselves. They exploited and enslaved the local native populations in California to build and maintain them.
