Democrats turning California into a third-world hellhole: Going without electricity edition
American Thinker ^ | October 10, 2019 | Tom Trinko

Democrats are turning California into a third-world hellhole without electricity, water, and freedom.

Due to Democrats' love for trees, at least 800,000 Californians will be without power for several days. Instead of properly managing California forests to reduce the chances of big fires, Democrats are saying Californians have to go without lights, refrigerators, and air-conditioning. Democrats could also avoid this by not making the power company financially liable for all forest fire damages, but since PG&E is a company, not an illegal alien, the Democrats couldn't care less about doing what's best for California.

While they try to blame climate change and the infrastructure, the reality is that neither of those has caused any significant changes in the last ten years — but now, suddenly, due to Democrat policies, Californians have to start living in the 18th century.

The Democrats who run California also refuse to build more water storage capacity even though the state's population has dramatically increased, ensuring that water has to be rationed during droughts.

Democrats are turning California into a third-world country economically. The income inequality between the über-rich Silicon Valley workers and the rest of Californians is huge, just like in third-world countries, while the elites live in luxury and the rest live in squalor.

...

California has four times more homeless per capita and three times more poor per capita than the rest of America. Half the homeless in America are in California, even though California has only 12% of the U.S. population.

There is something not being said about this problem.

It is my belief that it is not necessary to shut down the electricity to all users in a specific area, resulting in no gasoline, traffic lights, groceries, etc.

The power companies could simply shut down transformers in critical areas so that only those areas would be affected.

This is what happens when specific areas suffer storm damage causing wires down.

Funny how there are electric utilities in other western states and they do not have a problem...you have to cut down the trees near power lines..it is that simple..

Plus since they quit logging in the 1980s to save the trees and spotted owl..there are no roads into the forested areas so ..you cannot fight a fire you cannot get to...

Then it becomes a wild fire..

I remember hearing as a kid the saying, “As goes California, so goes the country”.

Did you mean Democrats are stupid instead of the author?

Why is the author stupid?

The author is pointing out Democrats are stupid.

In a form letter from SoCal Edison we were accused of “not being serious about conservation.” Our bills during the Summer months can be as high as $475.00, but then too we are air conditioning 3500 sq ft. in triple digit weather here in the Inland Empire area.

I’m still astonished a power company, a company in business to supply power that we willingly pay for accuses us of “not being serious about conservation.”

Welcome to liberal California.

BTW: I fueled up my truck yesterday @ $4.579 a gallon, and that was a lesser grade fuel then the Premium I normally put in the truck.

Every rate hearing that PG&E has requested additional revenue for proper maintenance, the CPUC has denied them.

They have to maintain 125,000 miles of lines, more than any utility in America. And they have the rights of way. They can take it down to bare dirt if they choose...and have the money.

But, CPUC denied an increase to get it done.

For 40 years.

It has nothing to do with environmentalists. Despicable as they are.

The author also contends the “elites” live in the lap of unbridled luxury while everyone else lives in “squalor”.

CA has over 7 million single family dwellings. 6.5 million of those are middle class priced under $1mil, and 5 million of those are priced under $500K.

And those folks are not living in squalor.

Incorrect.

It has EVERYTHING to do with environmentalists.

Several articles published over the last week have spelled out the reasons specifically.

Remember all of those lawsuits brought be environmentalists over the last several decades that were quietly settled in favor of said environmentalists? I certainly do.
