But the site has always resisted the temptation to build anything beyond the simplest business of selling display advertising on a single homepage. Now, Drudge has quietly flipped the switch on perhaps the biggest change hes ever made: Hes ditched his longtime advertising partner for a new representative, in the process revealing new details about his business and attracting scrutiny of how his site operates ... Margaret Otto declined to discuss her companys plans for Drudge Report or Refdesk ...

It used to be a stable source. Now it seems bent on hype. I don’t go there nearly as much as I used to. It used to be the first site I opened in the morning.
Is it true he sold the website?
The article is not conclusive ...
I don’t visit either...I see enough leftwing stories. Drudge will go the same way as the weekly standard
The advertisers don’t post the links.
Very interesting. Ad companies were concerned about Drudge Report having a fast auto refresh rate. During the Lewinsky scandal I was on the phone with Drudge as he put up a new headline. When I didn’t see it he said “You must not have your windows set to refresh, I can fix that”. I guess he was always interested in having his page auto refresh.
None of these stories reveal who selects his story content as opposed to ads. But he carries a lot of stories that require a subscription before you can read it. Im guessing he gets paid to carry those.
Took a lot to get me to actively resist his site, but he succeeded. Now I go there like I occasionally click on CNN - to see what the left is saying.
Lifestyles of the Rich, Faceless and Apolitical.
Honest Injun, I still ‘Drudge’ on a daily basis. I cannot lie. There. I’ve said it!
There really aren’t very many conservative-all-the-time-sites
to chose from when you think about it. Drudge is close enough given the dearth of choices.
I also like his links to articles about science and new technology.
I keep in mind that the headlines are someone’s opinion, on what needs to be emphasized.
Even factual info will be conveyed through someone’s individual perspective. All news carries a certain degree of bias.
You know/knew Matt D. in real life?
Wow!
They were estimating he was making $30 million a year in ad revenue. So he went from being an idealistic young guy to a very wealthy older man. Who knows what influences his thinking these days.
A number of Drudge competitors (conservative news aggregators) have surfaced: 1. The Liberty Daily, 2. Rantingly, 3. Politipage 2.0, 4.) Citizen Free Press and 5.) Whatfinger
I continue to find Twitter to be amazing as I am convinced that most people don’t know how to make it work for them. If you follow a universe of reliable conservatives - as many as possible - you will get a great feed. And when you see something is Trending, you can filter tweets by “People you follow” and see if is relevant to you or just the progressives trying to get a rally monkey going.
Lol you’re the first one to care. Freepers are a notably hard edged skeptical bunch.
Back in the Clinton days I emailed him a scoop. He was on the phone to me in ten minutes. Ran as his banner headline for close to a week. He was friendly and chatting about liberals being rude to him in the green room at Fox.
Charles Hurt and Daniel Halper run the site period.
Hurt came up as a Chatsworth wannabe but has NeverTrumper friends and completely lacks Matts instinct for crafting / aggregating stories that then become something larger and force a contrasting Narrative to the MSM.
Now they just parrot the MSM, which was bound to happen sooner or later.
Matt thinks hes Bret Easton Ellis with more money.
I am on record of predicting that Google will outright buy https://drudgereport.com/ at some point soon in the future.
They already control the advertising agency that brings millions to Matt. They will soon be telling him (if they aren’t already) what to post and what not to post.
They’ll say; “Post more anti-Trump articles. It’s what the advertisers want”.
Just a matter of time.
Good input ... I have always been pleased with Charlie Hurt’s appearances on Fox News, but I don’t see him often as I will not watch the weaselly Swamp Guardian Brett Baier ...
