It's always useful to know what a campaign is like, the lay of the land, so to speak, the supporters, the campaign operation, the candidate herself.
Here in San Diego, Elizabeth Warren paid a visit Thursday, so I went, taking my elderly mother, blending into the crowd to learn how things looked from the Democrat side.
The most obvious takeaway is that Warren is rising... Based on her own energetic appearance and stump speech, she's now begun campaigning as if she's got the Democratic nomination in the bag, and she's now attempting to move to the center.
That signals a swift campaign response to the de facto collapses of her Democratic rivals, which seem to be happening. Joe Biden is imploding over the massive corruption of his family political machine. Bernie Sanders is effectively out based on his age-related medical issues. Kamala Harris has been a goner ever since Rep. Tulsi Gabbard excoriated her in the second Democratic debate over her appalling record as a prosecutor. The rest are pipsqueaks. Neither Warren nor her campaign operatives mentioned any of that, but her San Diego stop showed pretty clearly that the Democrats are consolidating, and Warren is attempting to move toward the center as Trump's likeliest opponent.
All the same, she still has some weaknesses, and it's doubtful she can beat him.

Harris at least comes across as someone you wouldn’t mind having a beer with, knowing she’d probably have some good dirty jokes and play footsie under the table.

Not buying it. Even so, most of the 10 you give her are big vote states. I'm guessing she's around 200 right there. Florida, Michigan, Pennsylvania, Arizona and North Carolina scare me, could go either way. Another 100 votes there.
And, in the not-as-reliable-as-we-think category, you have Ohio and (shudder!) Texas. Trump is going to need to be sure with these two and take at least 3 of the 5 "scary" states to prevail.
Can he do it? At this point, I'm about 65% confident. Hopefully, the "peach fo-ti-fi" movement will blow up in the Dems face, but with their cheerleaders in the press, I'm not holding my breath.
Black men couldn’t stand Hillary and black women were just slightly less put off by her. A screeching white Yankee is a turnout problem as 2016 demonstrated and it’s probable that Latinos will also take a dim view of a schoolmarm in her flats and cardigans.

I agree with you on both counts - the Dems learned A LOT from all of Hillary’s mistakes in 2016 and the MSM will, again, cover up and/or ignore any slip ups or inconsistencies in Warren’s shtick. They will try to do the same thing they did with Obama in 2008 - portray the candidate as a moderate who can work with people from all sides AND portray the election as “historic” because it will be putting the first woman into office so people will feel like they are very hip and modern for supporting that effort!
In theory she could try to boost black support by picking a black person for VP, but it is hard to see how any of the obvious choices would help the ticket (Spartacus, Kamala, Al Sharpton, Stacey Abrams, Al Green, Elijah Cummings, Maxine...). A ticket with no white males on it would be a first.

The first KKK, the one that existed during the Reconstruction, did not burn crosses. That organization existed not to persecute blacks, but to protect southerners against the lawlessness of the Army of Occupation.

She might be the worst of the lot when it comes to ignoring those state borders.
Everything with her is a national this or national that. And even more annoying is her pronunciation of it as NAIYSHUNUL.

What I saw at the Elizabeth Warren rally
A liar.
She will still be running on a platform that could be described as Trotskyite. Many people have already figured out that free healthcare and free college isn’t free and the “rich” and “Wall Street” will not be able to finance these giveaways at any level of taxation. Her embracing of even parts of the Green New Deal and gun confiscation are non starters. Her decades of falsly portraying herself as Nstive American will also hurt her credibility.
