It looks too much like a dictatorship to be congratulating them

Love the guy but he needs to think before hitting the tweet button.
Makes too many mistakes.

Sorry but congratulating blood stained, freedom killing communists is not something the President of the United States ought to do.

Until China comes to the negotiating table I’d be hesitant to heap praise.

Sometimes diplomacy requires you to do distasteful things.
You can’t negotiate with somebody and offend them at the same time.

Trump is shaming the Chinese AHEAD OF TIME if Xi sends in troops to massacre Hong Kong Protesters.
As for the Tariff war, never in the history of human kind, or animal kingdom for that matter, there ever have been 2 winners in ANY WAR. One side must lose for other side to win.

Trolling. That’s the first thing that came to my mind too.
Or maybe Trump is playing Mr. Nice Guy in the ongoing Tariff War.
Who knows?

70 years and 70 million murdered Chinese. Hooray.

if Xi sends in troops to massacre Hong Kong Protesters. If Xi massacres Hong Kong protesters I'm pretty sure that would put our trade negotiations on hold and pretty much withdraw our extended hand. We cannot control their intentions via a single congratulatory tweet.
