Intelligence watchdog now says whistleblower claimed 'first-hand' knowledge, in departure...
FoxNews ^ | October 1, 2019 | Gregg Re, Catherine Herridge

The inspector general for the intelligence community said late Monday that the whistleblower whose complaint touched off an impeachment inquiry claimed to have firsthand knowledge of misconduct -- a claim that appears to conflict with documents sent to Congress and the director of national intelligence.

The lengthy statement Monday was posted in response to questions, raised in the media and by congressional Republicans, about the disclosure form filed by the whistleblower, who first flagged concerns about President Trump's July phone call in which he asked the leader of Ukraine to "look into" actions by former Vice President Joe Biden and his son, Hunter Biden. The IG said the whistleblower stated on an initial form Aug. 12 "that he or she possessed both first-hand and other information."

According to the watchdog, the whistleblower "checked two relevant boxes" on the form: One stating, "I have personal and/or direct knowledge of events or records involved”; and the other box stating, “Other employees have told me about events or records involved.”

What does the text of the law in question provide [5 U.S.C. § 2302(a)(2)(C).]? Sect (C) seems to exempt CIA agents from the whistleblower law protections. So there’s no protection for the CIA White House spy, whether it’s hearsay or first-hand.

If it’s a question of abuse of authority that Pres. Trump is accused of, then the members of Congress who voted to impeach the candidate they are running against have also abused the authority of their office and SHOULD BE IMPEACHED instead of Trump.

Yep. And the sooner Repubs and the Administration make clear that POTUS is not subject to such complaints (legit or otherwise) the better.

The Left is very, very, good at framing the debate/argument making us waste valuable time and resources correcting the base assumptions before even getting to the real issue.

Lying on government forms used to be called purjury.

That was before HC. Post HC, it is only purjury if someone can prove you mean to do it.

At this point who cares about the whistle blower. The transcript of the call was realeased and it is directly in contrast to the complaint. The whistle blower is wrong or lying.

Top Lawmakers Tell Intel Community IG: Come Clean On Secret Changes To Whistleblower Rules

The Federalist ^ | 10/01/2019 | Sean Davis

EXCERPT

Of particular note on the letter is the signature of McCarthy, the top Republican in the U.S. House. Nunes is the top Republican on the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, and Jordan is the top Republican on the House Oversight Committee.

Multiple senators sent a separate letter on Monday seeking similar information from the ICIG. That letter, from Sen. Ron Johnson (R-Wisc.), who chairs the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee, Sen. Charles Grassley (R-Iowa), who chairs the Senate Finance Committee, and Sen. Mike Lee, a member of the Senate Judiciary Committee, asked the ICIG to provide all documentation surrounding the revisions to the whistleblower guidance previously issued by the intelligence community.

“Why did the IC IG intially require first-hand information in its May 2018 disclosure form?” the senators asked. “Why did the IC IG remove the requirement for first-hand information?”

“Please list all personnel who were involved in and approved both the May 2018 form and August 2019 versions of the form,” they wrote. “Please provide all records discussing the creation of the May 2018 form as well as the change in reporting standards found on the August 2019 form.”

You expect competence from this outfit? I expect lies, deceit, obfuscation and an inability to do much of anything worthwhile. Its director, George Tenet, told GW Bush when he asked to verify there were WMDs in Iraq: “You can take it to the bank, Mr. President”. That bank was set up to be robbed, of thousands of lives, trillions in spending and the existence of Christian and other minority religious communities that had thrived in Iraq.

Sure he did; even if we asked for a copy of the form, the CIA could produce a form that said whatever they wanted. The alphabet agencies have no credibility left. If they said the sun was up, we would need independent corroboration.

the next question is:
If that is not in the statute, why was it on the form in the first place and how long was it used ?
