Rep. Mark Amodei, Nevada’s only Republican House member, confirmed he does not support an “impeachment inquiry” into President Trump.
He does support what every other member of the House and the Senate supports, a resolution that passed both the House and Senate unanimously with White House backing calling for the so-called “whistleblower complaint” to be transmitted to the relevant congressional committees. It passed the House 421-0.
Amodei told Breitbart he has been misquoted by many in the national media who say that means he supports an “impeachment inquiry,” but that he does not support one.
Several national media outlets raced Amodei’s comments out to create the appearance of dissent in GOP ranks, including the New York Times, MSNBC, CBS News who claim Amodei became the first Republican to support an “impeachment inquiry” of Trump.
Amodei, on both Wednesday and Friday voted with all the Republicans in the House in favor of House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy's resolution expressing disapproval with the way Pelosi launched Democrats’ impeachment proceedings against Trump.
Nonetheless, the New York Times added him to a column in a list it is keeping, saying he is the first Republican to support an “impeachment inquiry.” Amodei directed his staff to contact the New York Times and pull him out of the list.
“We asked them to take it down out of the column,” Amodei told Breitbart. “I had my comms person send them an email and say, ‘Hey this is not accurate, please take him out of that column.’ I’m shocked she’s gotten crickets so far."
"In these times, the fact that the New York Times says quite frankly means ‘better check further.”
The Times has not backed down, and continues to keep him included in it.

Read the several articles on this. Amodei was very clear in his interview, and he even said it was just like his Nevada Democrat colleague. Later he said his wording was not carefully chosen. He is a Never Trumper, his intent was clear. He’s really a Democrat. As I wrote to his office a bit ago, he should change parties and resign. Either way, he should resign. He’ll never get my vote and I’ll support any credible Trump Republican that runs against him.
Democrat Amodei needs to resign. Republicans should strip him of his committee assignments and all in the House.

Pelosi would not need any GOP members to pass impeachment in the House if all Dems followed orders. However, she is rightly worried about losing House seats if purple members vote for it. In the end, this may end up being a media gimmick for 2020.
I think you're right, although I think she knows she can't rely on passage in the House, either..
