Pennsylvania’s top law enforcement officer is joining several other top state Democratic officials in backing the legalization of marijuana for recreational use by adults.

Attorney General Josh Shapiro said in a Friday statement on Twitter that he changed his mind after months of internal research and discussions with law enforcement colleagues.

🗣️ANNOUNCEMENT

After months of internal research & discussions with fellow law enforcement, I am in support of efforts to legalize, regulate and tax marijuana use for Pennsylvanians over the age of 21.— AG Josh Shapiro (@PAAttorneyGen) September 27, 2019

Shapiro’s announcement comes two days after Gov. Tom Wolf made a similar announcement that he supports it. [...]

Your retarded "meaning" - to use the term loosely - is that every thread that has to do with marijuana is "the same thread."

it is the same thread.

No, that's your functional illiteracy at work.

First of all it’s not marijuana it’s cannabis

Second of all it’s a plant - a plant that has been around for all of recorded history

Third with all the we know about cannabis and now CBD it’s very clear that this is in amazing healing plant that has tremendous value to humanity

No one should ever smoke anything.

THC the active ingredient in the cannabis plant has amazing properties for psychological betterment

My simple advice is to go to a real store that sells real cannabis products that you can consume orally and try 5 mg

That would turn you into a white-woman-seducing Negro jazz musician ... or a bat.

We were camped next to a unit from the Flagstaff police department for country thunder 2010...
We were partying with them and drinks were flowing and weed was being smoked pretty much openly out there in the grounds, not in our two camps, but you could smell it continually. I asked one of the cops what he thought about the issue of legalizing. He said well, the only thing I will say on the record is me and every one of my guys would much rather go break up a pot party on a Friday night than a kegger... He said the pot people are mellow and never give us any problems, the Drunks want to fight us and wake up the whole neighborhood.
Then to prove their point, later that night, one of the drunk cops beat the shit out of his girl and lost his career!

Marijuana use causes brain damage, psychosis and schizophrenia.

I do not think that any study has proven conclusively that marijuana causes brain damage.

https://www.webmd.com/mental-health/news/20030701/heavy-marijuana-use-doesnt-damage-brain#1

As for psychosis and schizophrenia, it’s good to remember that correlation does not necessarily imply causation.

People with psychotic problems often use cannabis - they often also drink to excess and or use other illegal drugs. They often do this in an attempt to self-medicate their underlying symptoms of mental illness. Of course the use of drugs and alcohol often worsen the symptoms. In the area of alcohol and drug addiction treatment it is called a dual diagnosis. For those people, just stopping the drinking and drug use is not enough if they also do not get treatment for the mental illness.

https://www.nytimes.com/2019/01/17/health/cannabis-marijuana-schizophrenia.html

There is more evidence that psychosis and schizophrenia has a genetic predisposition as if one has a family history of such, they are more prone to developing it regardless of cannabis use and conversely people with no family history who use cannabis are no more likely than others with no family history who do not use.

That is not my endorsement of using it or any mind or mood altering drug (excepting for those under medical supervision who need it), except for coffee - you don’t want to deal with me in the morning before my first cup of coffee : ),

It’s just that there is hysteria and hyperbole on both sides of the argument with one side with the old reefer madness argument and the other extolling cannabis as a cure all for everything under the sun.

Also people who have fragile psyches can be sent down a path to psychosis with just casual use.

Probably also true of alcohol.

I really don’t think a casual experience with alcohol will cause psychosis It dulls the senses. Pot can send one on a mild trip ( or a heavy trip considering the quality improvement of modern breeds of pot). Pot heightens the senses and can make a weak mind overthink how screwed up they think their lives are. Too much booze will just put you to sleep.

. Just my opinion. I’m not a shrink nor do I play one on TV. I do have a modicum of experience with people on either drug.

Booze is a depressant ... and less than enough to put you to sleep can leave you "crying in your beer," to use a justifiably famous turn of phrase. I think the difference is less than you suppose.

I agree with you 100%.
I tried this crap for the first time, about 10 years ago while in Holland.
Put me in a severe allergic reaction ( Anaphylaxis) and could have killed me.
Unfortunately, you never hear about that possible side effect...

Pennsylvania’s top cop can support marijuana legalization but the people do not. He and the mayor are going against the people. That’s good because next election cycle they will be gone.

Evidence?

My own eyes; a huge growth in young druggies begging for money on sidewalks and in front of stores, where there had been little to none heretofore. Colorado is going downhill fast, so to speak.

Pot migrants - a downside of being the first legalizing state in the nation. No other state will be first.

Only legal products can effectively be required to have labeling with possible side effects.

Or is it your position that we should ban peanuts because some are allergic to them?
