WASHINGTON—House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said she is directing an impeachment inquiry into President Trump following reports that the president withheld aid to Ukraine while he was pressing the country to investigate Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden and his son.
“Today, I’m announcing the House of Representatives is moving forward with an official impeachment inquiry,” Mrs. Pelosi said in the Capitol, in front of several American flags. “The action taken to date by the president appears to violate the constitution.”...

But what can we do? Obviously, depending on voters fixing the problem each election day isn’t the answer. And we’ve become such pussies we don’t have the fire in our bellies to take actual action.
How pathetic that we have people who have to destroy the country in order to save their sorry rear ends. I trust the president has an end game plan for all of this, but damn do we need to go through more of this s**t before the hammer comes down on all of these traitors?

Nope. It is an inquiry, not an an impeachment. To me, it seems like a pretty desperate and high risk maneuver. Biden is obviously corrupt - he is on video bragging about his obstruction of justice.
In classic fashion, they are just trying to accuse their opponent of what they themselves did, to muddy the water enough to escape.
Nancy did not look that good trying to sell it. Nadler doesn’t look very good either.
They could face some serious blowback. They will keep posturing as if they are impeaching to fund raise from their rabid base (which might be a factor driving this), while keeping a finger in the wind to which way the polling is going.
If it turns ugly for them, they will just stop talking about it, and the media will too.
They might vote to impeach, just to smear President Trump, either out of hope it will help a bit in the election, or just out of sheer spite. But there is nothing objectively real to impeach him on - just how much they hate him, just the politics of it.
Conviction in the Senate requires a 2/3 majority. Are there 67 Senators dumb enough (or insane enough) to convict President Trump of whatever “high crimes and misdemeanors” Nazi Pelosi and her goons manage to cook up?
All she is doing is an “inquiry” in which a later vote must then be used to institute the formal impeachment process, based on that inquiry’s “finding”.
I think when Trump releases the transcript of the “offending” Conversation with official from Ukraine, it will be clearer just how much meat is actually on the impeachment bone or not.
However, there is no Constitutional definition of “High Crimes and Misdemeanors” nor is there any Constitutional definition of “abuse of power” by a President when an action, any action, by a President is not proscribed by law or the Constitution.
So, what a Congress says is “abuse of power” can be merely a political opinion, and even a political opinion on a political matter, without anyone having to quote paragraph and verse from either the Constitution or the law.
They can say the president doing X is an “abuse of power” and saying so can be nothing more than their political opinion.
In the end all Pelosi can do is keep the House tied up for the next year in an “impeachment” mess, while she’ll never get the Senate to go along with an impeachment claim coming out of the House, and she knows it.

If Pelousy does refer articles of impeachment, McTurtle should either tell her to bugger off, or hold an immediate vote with no hearings.
The antithesis of innocent until proven guilty. If you’re President Trump, first comes the charge/allegtion and then comes the investigation. The conduct of the dems should only be published in “Field and Stream”....they have been on fishing expeditions for nearly 3 years.

I think they should do it. Impeachment is unpopular. It would be a huge win for conservatives.
My belief is that Pelosi knows that the President will win reelection and she wants to be able to place blame on the other Democrats for pushing impeachment and deflect blame from herself.

It is one step short of a DOUBLY official inquiry.
In other words, nothing official - only posturing.
I guess they will give themselves some money, to hire some staff, to sling mud on impeachment through the elections. They will keep inquiring (about something/anything), until the election is over.
As one smear falls flat, they will fling some new ones against the wall, hoping something will stick. Then they will have they usual Gloria Allred stable of sex accusers, and some kind of special October surprise smear, that they hope cannot be proven false before the election.
They will be equally shocked and outraged at every accusation, no matter how baseless. They are professionals.
