White House press secretary Stephanie Grisham confirmed Monday daily press briefings will not be reinstated under her leadership, citing the behavior of journalists who “weren’t being good to” President Trump’s administration.
During an appearance on Fox & Friends, Ms. Grisham said briefings would not be returning “right now” and wouldn’t come back unless the president felt they were necessary.
“He’s doing just fine,” she said, “And to be honest, the briefings have become a lot of theater and I think a lot of reporters were doing it to get famous. They’re writing books now, they’re all getting famous off of this presidency.”
“They weren’t being good to his people,” Ms. Grisham continued. “[Mr. Trump] doesn’t like that. He is very loyal to his people and he put a stop to it.”

Although the Constitution guarantees freedom of the press from government dictat, it in no way guarantees the press access to government officials, or routine press conferences, or even press releases. All the privileges the media came to rely on can be discontinued at any time by any administration.

The President should have done canceled the briefings about 30 days after Sanders took over. It wasn’t necessary to put her through all the abuse she took gracefully but unnecessarily.
The press briefings with a Republican President, had become much like the UK Prime Minister’s Questions, where the opposition shout insane questions and heckle the PM.
They serve no value, glad they are canceled, along with the stupid “correspondences dinner”.
Stick that up your briefing room access lawsuits.
I wouldn’t want to answer stupid leading rhetorical questions designed to elicit wording that could be wantonly abused, and have also learned to stop giving people a chance to ask them.
