Their Shut Down DC effort will be taking place at the same time as the United Nations Climate Action Summit in New York. Protesters have called for “a climate strike and global week of action from September 20th-27th.”
The activist groups are encouraging kids to skip school and join them.
“We will block key infrastructure to stop business-as-usual, bringing the whole city to a gridlocked standstill,” the event page for the protest reads. “Parents, workers, college students, and everyone who is concerned about the climate crisis will skip work and school and put off their other responsibilities to take action on the climate crisis.”
Black Lives Matter will also be helping to block traffic and are urging their supporters to meet at Folger Park at 6:30 a.m. The group Rising Tide, an organization fighting climate change, is asking their supporters to meet them at Hancock Park/L’Enfant Metro Station at the same time.
Members of Antifa who are helping to organize the disruption held several workshops for “direct action training” in the weeks leading up to the event.
If they really cared about the environment, they'd be picking up trash and cleaning up the streets. But that's too much like real work for these latte-sipping losers.

The police should clear the streets using lathis, 4’-5” lengths of flexible rattan cane.
