As Trump calls for resignations, NYT finger-pointing begins on deceptive Kavanaugh hit piece

Oh, what a tangled web we weave when first we practice to deceive.”

-       Sir Walter Scott

President Trump, an enthusiast for hitting back harder when attacked, is not about to let his arch-enemies at the New York Times off the hook for their disgraceful hit piece on Justice Kavanaugh, and is now calling for the resignations of all involved in covering up the exculpatory evidence that was omitted from the Sunday op-ed piece.

...She can never recover, and will never return to Greatness, under current Management. The Times is DEAD, long live The New York Times! — Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) September 16, 2019

The omission of the exculpatory evidence is inexcusable by any legitimate journalistic standard, and while the activist fanatics want to press onward, journalists know that the stink is going to permanently attach itself to someone.

The authors of the book and op-ed, NYT reporters Robin Pogrebin and Kate Kelly, took to MSNBC’s Lawrence O’Donnell’s show to point fingers at their editor, claiming that their submission to the editor included the exculpatory evidence. Chuck Ross of The Daily Caller News Foundation:

The co-authors of a new book about Brett Kavanaugh blamed New York Times editors Monday for removing a key passage from an essay they published over the weekend that laid out a new, but uncorroborated, sexual misconduct allegation against the Supreme Court justice.

In an interview with MSNBC’s Lawrence O’Donnell, Times reporters Robin Pogrebin and Kate Kelly addressed the controversy over a New York Times Review essay they published Saturday that previewed their book, “The Education of Brett Kavanaugh: An Investigation.” (snip)

NYT Reporters: We Included Exculpatory Info On Kavanaugh — But Editors Removed It

(EXCERPT)

Normally, however, editors work with contributors on their submissions. The process usually requires a last look by contributors to the edited material for any last-minute issues created by the editing. Why did the two reporters sign off on the submission rather than insist that the key sentence be restored to provide the proper context, perhaps with a redaction in place of the woman’s name? O’Donnell doesn’t ask, and the two never volunteer an answer.

Mollie Hemingway isn’t buying it for another reason. First, as she initially noted on Twitter, the two sat around for at least a full day without speaking up about the missing sentence and context, even when it started getting noticed. More importantly, though, Hemingway discovered that the two left out the same information in an NPR interview that was taped late last week before the NYT “adaptation” had been published:

In response to a question about any other women coming forward, the authors excitedly tell Max Stier story, never mentioning that they never spoke to the woman or that she denied it through several friends. Difficult to blame this on editing.

— Mollie (@MZHemingway) September 17, 2019

Not only that, but the two also discuss with NPR how Leland Keyser helps to establish Christine Blasey Ford’s credibility without ever once mentioning that Keyser told them explicitly that she doesn’t find Blasey Ford credible. That’s before they get to Stier’s story, which was a secondhand bit of gossip about something so inconsequential that the alleged victim doesn’t recall it at all. The authors also claim that they “haven’t found motivations for them to lie,” even though Blasey Ford’s attorney admitted last week that part of their motivation in coming forward was to defend Roe v Wade and to “put an asterisk” next to Kavanaugh’s name in perpetuity.

FROM HOTAIR

Update: Should one of the authors have disclosed that she was at Yale the same time as Kavanaugh? Perhaps not that, but her connection to activists might have warranted a more thorough mention. Via Twitchy:

Did you know Robin Pogrebin was a Yale classmate of Kavanaugh? I didn’t until last night—seems to be an important detail she should disclose in her reporting: https://t.co/VhVC9sXbE9

— Julie Kelly (@julie_kelly2) September 17, 2019

That by itself probably doesn’t merit a disclosure. A lot of people attended Yale in some form or fashion during Kavanaugh’s years there. Being on campus doesn’t necessarily mean you know everyone or participate in every event. By itself, it’s not a conflict of interest. Of course, that’s not exactly “by itself” either, as Mollie Hemingway points out:

More than that, Pogrebin was long-time roommates at Yale with Kathy Charlton, a woman centrally involved in the anti-Kavanaugh efforts (according to public statements from her husband). That she was roommates is briefly disclosed, but Charlton's coordinating role is not. https://t.co/izJYFqAl3X

Is this the same as O’Donnell repeatedly saying “if true” when he was pushing another made up Trump fairytale a couple of weeks ago?

The same crowd salivating over Kavanaugh’s penis gave Bill Clinton a pass for his Oral Office activity-——
using the infamous Live-To-Regret defense “it was only sex”....which unleashed Harvey Weinstein.

NEW LOWS FOR POWER-CRAZY DEMOCRAPS-—the slash and burn political strategy

They cant get votes on their accomplishments, political acumen or voter respect. They resort to smearing, law-breaking and other con games.

Dems are social predators and sociopaths with no conscience and in a perfect world, would be hunted down and caged for the protection of humanity and society.

Defending the Constitution and serving the American people isn’t for the Democrats.

Democraps are totally amoral; they worship power and money only.

In an interview with MSNBC’s Lawrence O’Donnell, Times reporters Robin Pogrebin and Kate Kelly...

Did the Times reporters use the "if true" O’Donnell standard for reporting ?

Far and wide people need to disseminate this... make it a Campaign Ad and Billboard.

Not only do these accusations have no credibility, even if they were true they’re nothing. Compared to Clinton and Epstein these accusations are the equivalent of taking a piece of gum from somebody without permission.

Not to be picky I thought this quote was from Macbeth.

What I see from this latest media attempt to damage Kavanaugh and Trump with resurrected lies is a learning experience for SCJ Kavanaugh. He is having his nose rubbed into the filth and unscrupulousness of the communist, leftist, globalist, etc. democrat party. He is young and needs to be reminded, rather frequently, that he was selected to his high Judaical position by President Trump and has been supported and backed up by the Pres and a multitude of Conservative US citizens. He must be circumspect and diligent not to be suckered in to the leftist element that insinuates themselves into his life and he gradually becomes a pawn to their interests. Let the Chief Justice John Roberts be a warning to all future nominees to the SC.

In what alternative universe is this? It does the opposite. It destroys her credibility even more than her flimsy lies in the first place.

Could care less. Haven’t read a NYT, Compost or Slimes article (beyond the headline) going on three years. Finally, I kept a New Year’s resolution!
