Oh okay. I just couldn’t find that information no matter how I framed the search. I figured you probably were right, but I could find anything that even broached that reason.
The only two Euro countries that drive on the left side of the road are UK and Ireland, everybody else uses the right side, just like us.
Plus, I don’t recall if the Common Market countries, predecessor of the EU, had gotten around to pollution controls and such in the 1960’s. Half of Europe was still Iron Curtain countries, at the time, and many countries were not part of the Common Market.
Ford and GM had been making cars in UK and Europe for decades and regulations would have been nothing new to them..................
