Last week, Comcast, Disney, CBS, and Fox sued to block a new Maine law that would require cable companies to offer à la carte TV. Now, a second lawsuit filed by the National Cable & Telecommunications Association representing more than 200 cable networks, has been filed to block Maines new à la carte TV law.

Lotsa ‘Mericans need to spend more time outside...
Absolutely. The Roku is designed to interface with your TV. It replaces the traditional cable box.
Phil,
Cut the cord completely. Get a decent VPN and there is no show that you cannot watch on the internet.
BTW - most of them have NO commercials.
I’ve been wanting ala carte SAT TV for years-I live in a remote area, with few people and would like DirecTV much more if I could get rid of CNN, MSNBC,NBC, CBS etc, etc and just buy History channel, FX, NatGeo, Discovery and the other channels that actually have something useful and/or entertaining that I watch-If I want to watch a movie, that is what pay-per-view is for...
Spanish is my 2nd language, and I do like a couple of the Narco mafia good guys/bad guys novelas on Telemundo, so that would stay, too-my guy does not speak Spanish, so he likes that he can get English subtitles on Telemundo at his place in town-but he has cable-I know there is a way for me to get them here, too but I’ve never researched it because I speak Spanish-but I know it is available...
Yes. Too many people “like” too many channels.
I too am forced to take some bundled channels.
But there is all of about a dozen cable channels that get 99.99% of my cable viewing time.
That’s Channels 3 & 465 - old TV shows, 593 - Golf Channel, HGTV & DIY, History Channel, Motor Trend (formerly Velocity), TCM, FXM, AMC movie channels, CMT and feTV (more old TV shows).
I will switch to ABC/CBS/NBC if following some sports event shown there, but do not go there before the sports event or stay there afterward.
Never ever have CNN, MSNBC, CNBC, or Fox cable news on AT ANY TIME. Can be very well informed without them.
Good answer. Thanks for the explanation!
Exactly
Not that I have any taste or class. One of my faves is "Renegade" from quite a few years back. Gosh, I could watch Lorenzo Lamas's acting skills all day! <^..^>
I remember way back when the argument for paid cable was that there would be no commercials....HaHa liars all.
And without cable, sports will die.
Matt be Democrats. “Our plan will work so long as no one has any choice in the matter.”
They’re profitable, just by stealing money from viewers and from channels with good content rather than by having actual viewers. And the cable companies view that as a “plan”.
Lets see... i just bought Ruku... I found NewsMaxTV on it...
I was in WalMart and a Cable guy was there selling cable. He showed me the lists of all the channels I can get. I said, “Canal (a French channel), I don’t speak French and I’m not into Spanish speaking channels.” He said, CNN! I laughed and said, I have Ruku... Thanks...
There is a low resolution channel and then a HDTV channel. I don’t have any channels in triplicate.
Get a tv antenna and go to tvguide.com then What’s On to see what is in your area for free tv. You will be surprised at what is on the in between channels like 2.2 and 4.2 and 13.2 and 3 and 4 etc : )
Get internet only, buy a ROKU box, get the free Pluto TV app from Roku.com. They have all kinds of programming including Newmax tv news plus many other tv news channels. All the Bond films on Pluto 007. TVLand, sports, classic and new movies etc.
You can get cable with Sling TV for $25/month that includes many more channels you get with the more expensive cable tv.
I was paying $144/month with Time Warner for a lot less then what Sling TV offers.
Internet $42/month + Sling + Amazon (I buy most everything thru there). Million songs and thousands of free tv shows and movies.
Very similar to the major record companies fighting the distribution and even sale of digital music by the song. Record companies wanted to continue forcing consumers to buy music on entire CDs despite them not wanting the schlock often packaged on the album. They even fought the technology that allowed consumers to be able to copy songs off albums they purchased. The record companies lost in the end.
