Cruz Signals He May ‘Run Again’ for POTUS in 2024: ‘We Came Very, Very Close in 2016’

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) isn’t taking another presidential run off the table — at least for 2024.

The Republican lawmaker — who dropped his 2016 presidential bid after trying to win over voters against now-President Donald Trump in the Republican primary — is open to a future presidential run.

In hopes of becoming the Republican nominee in 2016, Cruz fell short, as his support among voters declined in comparison to those backing then-front-runner Trump. A Gallup poll conducted in late April of 2016 shows Cruz at a 45% unfavorability rating among Republican voters, jumping from an unfavorability rating in the teens at the beginning of the year.

In an interview with The Christian Science Monitor published on Thursday, Cruz, however, is sharing how he’d be open to taking another shot at it.

“Look, I hope to run again,” Cruz said, adding, “We came very, very close in 2016. And it’s the most fun I’ve ever had in my life.”

Well now they are not. Ted went for TPP
https://www.politifact.com/truth-o-meter/statements/2015/jul/08/ted-cruz/ted-cruz-changed-position-trade-promotion-authorit/

He and Sasse can be trusted to be the first out with knives for any of these tempest-in-a-teapot raised about POTUS and when he turns out to be right they are nowhere to be seen. They cannot be counted on to support his agenda but are great grand-standers. I donated to both to my eternal shame.

No. In 2024 we will go with Jeb because he is more conservative than Cruz. No wait Kasich because he is more conservative than Cruz. Or any of those those others in the 2016 debates because they are more conservative than Cruz. Or maybe most of the Senators that didn’t run. Or the House members who bailed out in 2018. I know we can find a true conservative to elect in 2024.

Great sarcasm but not to the point. We will go with none of these. We have many better and there are people who will demonstrate their abilities between now & 2022/24.

A rabid fan of Cruz in the last election, BUT...his saying that ‘WE MIGHT LOSE TEXAS’ is the epitome of negative, defeatist thinking.

Measure that statement against the headline that President Trump is looking to expand his win by courting New Mexico.

Stark DIFFERENCE IN MEN.

One is looking for wins and
the other is a LOSER.

I’m pretty sure we can find somebody who was born here of citizen parents and is Constitutionally eligible.

If Ted Cruz is a natural born citizen, so are Anwar al-Awlaki’s kids, born in Yemen to one citizen parent.

Natural born citizen are NATURALLY citizens because it’s the only thing they could be.
The children of foreigners are something else, even if born here.

Yes. Cruz needs to come to grips with his constitutionally-imposed limitation and accept a nomination to the U.S. Supreme Court for which Natural Born Citizenship is not a requirement.

I called out Mark Levin in person on his “The Liberty Amendments” book tour in August 2013 on his feigned ignorance of Cruz’s ineligibility and caught holy hell from him for my troubles. At the time I predicted he would live to regret his support for Cruz for President because of the Natural Born Citizen issue would be Cruz’s undoing. Trump swooped in and elegantly bashed Cruz repeatedly with that very cudgel, wisely warning the Republicans not to support his POTUS nomination candidacy because the Democrats would enthusiastically take Cruz to court over the NBC issue and make his and all of our lives a living hell. Eventually Cruz’s candidacy fizzled and Republicans avoided the foolishness of putting up another ineligible candidate like McCain, who was born in Colon Hospital in Colon, Panama (i.e. NOT in the PCZ, even though that wouldn’t have made him eligible either).

I judge not only by voting record. I judge by actions and statements. Both of these men are sore losers who are on the record making multiple sanctimonious statements deriding POTUS instead of helping our Nation solve problems.

They respect neither the voters nor the achievements of the Trump Presidency because their self respect is tied up in denying the reality that they lost to a better man, a more selfless man, a doer who puts his Country first. I won’t document Cruz’s many revolting self serving comments about POTUS because it would not be healthy for me. I am too furious with Cruz’s disloyalty to the Country and the voters. It is more important to him to try and put down Trump than for our Nation & her people to succeed. I am spoiled for choice to document a similar pattern from Sasse. I notice you ignore Cruz misrepresentations on TPP and his wife’s career as a big wig Globalist, authoring position statements on erasing the idea of a Nation State.

I cannot understand freepers who ignore the fact that without people like Sasse & Cruz President Trump could have gotten so much more accomplished. America is in a fight for her life and people who sniped at the President and helped the other side hobble & defeat his efforts are on the other team. Ryan is one of the worst, cut from the same cloth as these two, sanctimonious, paid off by the Globalists, interested in business as usual and skilled at doublespeak.

Cruz endorsed Trump. Trump endorsed both Cruz and Sasse.

Neither of them agrees with him on everything, nor with each other on everything. I’ll take a politician’s voting record. These guys are on our side.

“Hillary Clinton was just about the worst presidential candidate I’ve ever seen. (Well, on a major party, anyway.)”

I’ve always maintained she was the worst presidential candidate in history ever fielded by the Democrats, though
weirdly enough, the Dems seem to be desperately trying to break that record for 2020.

“She did as much to lose the election as Trump did to win it.”

indeed. and I’ve also always maintained that Hillary vs. Trump was probably the only combination that would have yielded a GOP victory.

“She would have been the same amoral idiot no matter who ran.”

true enough as well, but again, weirdly enough, the 2020 Dems are doing their damndest to pick some one, who if elected, would make Hillary look like a half-way decent President in comparison!

A seat on SCOTUS will suit you better.

Why would you want an Associate Justice willing to ignore our Constitution for his personal gain?

Had to tweet to him:

@SenTedCruz
I hear you are considering another run at the WH - since you seem to be giving a lot of advice/warnings about how the repubs are not doing all they need to be doing to get back on top of things, here’s a suggestion to increase your chances in 2024:
Get off your butt and do everything you can to support President Trump in the 2020 election and get moving in your own State which you say is trying to turn Blue...stop the Oracular BS and DO SOMETHING for the Party instead of posturing for your own self.

“And it’s the most fun I’ve ever had in my life.”

Far be it from us to deprive Cruz of having fun. I mean, isn’t that what it’s all about? /s/

And he “came close” in 2016? The Canadian’s got a screw loose.

He may have had a chance to be appointed to SCOTUS by Trump at some point in time. Now ... I don’t think so.
