Amazon-owned Whole Foods will be withdrawing medical benefits for hundreds of its part-time workers starting Jan. 1, 2020, the company said Thursday.
In the past, employees needed to work at least 20 hours a week to buy into the health-care plan. Now they will need to work at least 30 hours. Less than 2% of its workforce, or 1,900 employees, will no longer be eligible for medical coverage, under the new policy, the company said.

What is health care at Whole Foods anyway? Do they send you for Reiki and proscribe you crystals for a cold or fever? Or do Whole Foods witch-doctors rub you with Echinacea and St. John’s Wort for skin cancer?

Bezos can’t hit trillionaire status if he doesn’t throw more of his employees under the bus.

“If I remember right Whole Foods had a pretty noteworthy health plan. Read about it years ago.”

No wonder people are voting democrat and socialism.
Yup. Stupid, selfish, short-sighted decision making by business leaders is creating the ideal breeding environment for Socialism.

The ruling elite republicans are no different than Bezos. They are living like kings while the rest of us are living like serfs. This is precisely why they didnt come up with a solution while they had all three branches.
The democrat elite are even worse. The pretend to despise wealth while grabbing as much of it as they can while pretending to be for the downtrodden.

“I dont know of anyone who provides health insurance for part-time employees. We dont.”
Large self funded plans set their own rules and they can.
I admin one large group that would not pay for atv, car or boating type accidents if their employees were drinking. The owner was against drinking.
Also notice it says people can “Buy In” the health insurance which says the employee have to pay for it at 20 hrs.

Whole Food does, as do many companies that want to attract part-time employees.

With the minimum wage going up to $15.00 an hour all over the west coast this doesnt surprise me a damn bit!!! EVERYTHING in a business is attached to wages, workers comp, payroll taxes matched, I cant believe they provided Health Ins. for part timers!!! I work in the grocery industry we are UNION (👎) the Union does provide healthcare if you work 24 hours a week, $7.00 a week for excellent PPO I dont know how the employers do it, the union came very close to putting us out on strike for wage increases WHEN CA. is increasing min. wage to $15.00 an hour, what the hell do the unions expect from employers!! Bottom line is ALL prices for customers are going to be increasing, since we are also customers paying extra for everything how does a wage increase help anyone??? The only damn people benefiting from wage increases is the damn government getting higher payroll taxes!!!

As a Union Member, can you refuse the insurance that the Union provides? Could you just quit the Union and not take their benefits and negotiate a better deal for yourself?
And why risk a strike when you can quit the Union? The Union Dues you pay are a waste of money.
Maybe you can buy your own insurance.
