Weymouth High School parents began raising money this year for their kid’s sports teams by selling “white out” shirts that kids can wear to athletic events to encourage school unity.
Anyone remotely familiar with sportball understands what a “white out” is.
It’s not just white either, they do it for lots of colors.
Usually it’s the school colors, although Weymouth’s colors of maroon and gold could be offensive to Elizabeth Warren. More often than not it’s just black or white because it’s a color that stands out.
That’s when this woman stepped in.
This is Weymouth Superintendent Dr. Jennifer Curtis-Whipple. As you can see she has a hyphenated last name and insists on being addressed as “doctor,” so she’s here to make sure that no one has any fun at all during the school year. She evidently became aware of the “white out” shirts, determined that it was racist, and immediately put a stop to it by sending out this email to parents.

Anyone in SEC or Big 12 country knows what “white out” and “black out” games are. If you are so ignorant as to equate this with race, you shouldn’t appropriate these cultural customs.

I’ve seen it at D1 basketball games where all the fans open up newspapers when the opposition is shooting free throws. You also see it at pro games where everyone gets a tee shirt.
The “Dr.” clearly doesn’t understand sports, kids, or anything.

It’s fortunate Ms. Whipple (the hyphen is implied) didn’t work for the Home Guard in WWII England as she would have been utterly ineffective in enforcing blackouts.
The only usage I’ve heard for whiteouts is blizzard induced snow blindness and the correction of typed errors. Oh yes, and the forcible ejection of Caucasians from sporting events. Nicest looking maroon I’ve seen today, so there’s that.

The only “white out” I’m familiar with is a blinding snowstorm too dangerous to drive in and that gloppy liquid stuff with the little brush used to correct typed letters.
Weymouth is an upper middle class majority white town, with the next largest racial group Asians. They have a large minority of Government and Non-profit employees.
So, the boosters will probably fall all over themselves apologizing for their transgressions instead of telling MS Whipple she’ll be sued if she suspends any students from attending school or game in their brand new school spirit shirt. It would be great if some the few black parents told her she was being racist for expressing insult on their behalf. Then send their black children to school in Whiteout Shirts
But, alas, it’s Massachusetts.

I have never heard this term.
White out is when you are driving in a blizzard and can not see much but white. These city idiots assume that their cities are the major part of the country but they are just a minority in the size of the country. Racism is also caused by people ignorant the majority of they country.
