Scalise says it's unclear if bipartisan deal on guns will happen

House Minority Whip Steve Scalise (R-La.) said it’s unclear whether lawmakers can reach a bipartisan deal on gun legislation following a meeting with fellow Republican leaders at the White House on Tuesday.

The Louisiana Republican said while "good faith negotiations and conversations" are taking place between parties and chambers, he doesn’t feel the bills Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) has advocated for the Senate to take up would prevent future instances of mass violence. Scalise said Tuesday’s talks centered around both potential new measures aimed at preventing future shootings and improving the implementation of current laws.

"We talked about some of the things that still need to be done to make the background check system work better, making current laws work better. There are a lot of gaps in our current laws where people are able to buy guns, who shouldn't have been able to buy guns that had criminal records and other things that weren't getting fed into the background check system," he told reporters following the meeting.

"And so we passed a law to make that work better. He's looking at, you know, what might be other laws that he can get an agreement on, but the other concern is, you know, do the Democrats actually want to solve problems or do they want to just be more aggressive about taking away people's guns."

The Broward County shooter was way, WAAAAAAAY crazier than people understand.

That insect was nuts from day one, he was freaking FAMOUS at the school and even through the whole district as being a pure, violent WHACKO.

I knew he was nuts, sure, but yesterday they had a really in-depth report about it:

The kid missed NO opportunity to perk up at any mention of killing and violence —he applied himself at school to NOTHING else, never.

FAMOUS for being a violent nut in the making.

We need to STOP wiping juvenile records.

Execute every person who irrefutably discharges a firearm in the commission of a crime.

Solved.

Bipartisan means the Democrats get what they want and the Republicans bend over.

Better that nothing gets passed.

Steve Scalise had a first-hand experience of democrat “gun control” at a baseball game.

He needs to NOT compromise with them on ANYTHING, ever. Especially when it comes to OUR Constitutional RIGHT to keep and bear arms.

Compromise with psychopaths is NOT acceptable.

All murderers should be hanged in public like they used to be. But the real problem is we removed God and His laws from public schools, and the public forum. You sew the wind, you reap the whirlwind.

Yeah he would be CRAZY after what happened to him to make ANY deal.

Amazing how his shooing isn’t in the glorified annals of those politicians who were shot, like certain dems are.

Nothing to see here.

Obviously the solution is to allow the 2nd Amendment to do its job and let all those legally able to own a gun (some would say everyone period) carry at all times.

“Gun-Free Zone” is code to the criminals for “Kill-Zone” so abolish gun-free zones. Outlaw them completely. Any business or establishment who doesn’t allow guns will be liable and responsible for the safety of everyone on their property which means armed guards.

Too true.

“...after what happened to him to make ANY deal...”

One would think he’d be the LAST person to even think about it.

Yup. “Good faith negotiations” and “Democrats” don’t belong in the same sentence.

The ONLY legitimate fix that is proven to curb gun violence; “ a good guy with a gun”! We must allow any US citizen who wants to carry a firearm anywhere in this country their free exercise of the Second Amendment and their God given right to self defense. Anything else will be nothing but a legislative disastrous cluster f**k that will certainly lead to more civil unrest.

A Feral Judge™ would strike it down as unconstitutional due to racial bias before the toner it was printed with had cooled off.

[[House Minority Whip Steve Scalise (R-La.) said it’s unclear whether lawmakers can reach a bipartisan deal on gun legislation]]

Gun legislation would NOT have stopped the recent carnages- We’ve capitulated to the left to the tune of tens of 1000’s of gun laws already- there is something like what? 30,000+ gun laws already on the books- more laws will NOT stop sick people- ever-

IF none of the 30,000+ laws on the books now are ‘sensible gun control laws’ then let’s do away with them- and give people back their INALIENABLE RIGHT to own a gun for self protection- Since none of the laws are supposedly ‘sensible’ then why do we have them if they are nonsense in the eyes of the left?

[[“Good faith negotiations” and “Democrats” don’t belong in the same sentence.]]

Nope- they sure don’t- We’ve seen how ‘good faith negotiations’ have failed now with 30,000+ gun laws that the left insisted we needed- and the republicans went right along with it- slowly allowing our INALIENABLE RIGHTS to be eroded one law at a time- 30,000+ times now!

When is enough enough? The left just keep demanding more and more gun control laws- and the right just keep agreeing to more and more constitution violating laws-
