If Trump was really playing 4d chess. He should hire Tulsi Gabbard and get out of all these wars and win the next election easily.

Then get on with the hard work of restoring and rebuilding the great American Republic.

Bolton is very popular with many conservatives. Trump got very personal in his tweets concerning Bolton...as close to a kick in the ass as one verbally can get. This will work against Trump, I’m afraid, affecting quite a few people. He’ll probably still win the election, but Bolton was a real loyal stalwart, no matter the disagreements. I can’t see a Trump presidency without some sort of Bolton in his mix. Trump will be hobbled more than he knows, not so much by the firing but by Trump’s treatment of Bolton in his tweets.

I'm guessing Trump didn't like the tone of Bolton's offer to resign and decided not to make the morning call. Like I say, it's a guess.

Correct. If you agreed to serve, take the dismissal and state your thanks for the opportunity.

If you’re thin-skinned, don’t take any job in the White House.

Bolton is just not the man for the times. Trump is trying to disentangle not get into more war. Attacking Iran is just a crappy idea. Boltons first knee jerk on everything is attack. Trump is a negotiator.

Resigned, or fired? It probably makes a little bit of difference in the resume, but the effect on the overall picture is unchanged.

Might be the best job John Bolton was ever fired from. This way, he is now entirely free to speak with no regard for future consequences. What’s the worst that could happen? He is not going to be assassinated or executed by the Trump Administration, and he may even be recruited for some other organization related to, but outside the sphere of the Federal Government.

I think if you offered your resignation, and you boss said no I don’t want that, but just to get the jump on you the next morning by firing you via tweet, you’d be a bit salty as well.

Seriously? Bolton should have resigned weeks ago. Maybe months ago.

HE’s very popular with Never Trump conservatives who got on the Trump Train very reluctantly on election eve 2016. Bolton is hated by the fruits and nuts wing of the Paulistinian/infowars “conservative” movement.

You’re right.

Any more-I am convinced that people in public life have totally forgotten (maybe they never knew) how to show any class at all.

Acting like that isn’t low class... it’s NO class. Just take your lumps and scoot.

“Adversity introduces a man to himself.” Always true!

Maybe he never showed any class and that’s what got him fired. Who knows.

Do we know why he offered to resign last night?

Do we know why Trump told Bolton last night his services were no longer needed?

What event precipitated this?
