Bolton says he offered to resign night before Trump announced his firing

Outgoing national security adviser John Bolton on Tuesday disputed President Trump's account of his dismissal, tweeting that he offered to resign before the president announced his ouster.

"I offered to resign last night and President Trump said, 'Let's talk about it tomorrow,'" Bolton tweeted.

Washington Post reporter Robert Costa and other journalists said that Bolton had texted them to make clear that he resigned.

The messages came moments after Trump rocked Washington with a pair of tweets that said he had asked Bolton to step down due to disagreements about policy.

"I informed John Bolton last night that his services are no longer needed at the White House. I disagreed strongly with many of his suggestions, as did others in the Administration, and therefore I asked John for his resignation, which was given to me this morning," Trump tweeted.

The president said he would name a replacement next week.

“Arabs envy our bikinis, booze and colleges.”

No they don’t.

And we can’t re-create the mid-west in the Middle East and we shouldn’t ever try, not even a little bit.

His hatred for the UN..? I loved that part of him.

So petty. Not the way to serve the President. Just take it like a man.

I wasn’t against Bolton being there as a hardline voice. This will make Tucker Carlson so happy his hatred of Bolton and any foreign involvement is extreme.

The results are the same, Bolton is on the street, Trump is the President.

I usually liked Bolton, but he was a little full of himself.

Next.

Completely agree, on both scores.

John...you have been fired. Suck it up. Otherwise, be a chump.

Bolton offered to resign...and Trump told him let's talk about it tomorrow?

Doesn't sound like Trump.

Oh please the liberal media is just trying to make it into a big issue about exactly how Bolton was dismissed. Because of the disagreements it was very normal for Bolton to offer his resignation and whether it’s really a resignation or a firing is one of those things no one can really answer. I think the resignation is offered as a formality and when the president accepts it, then it’s sort of a firing.

If Bolton had truly offered to resign and Trump instead fired him instead of allowing Bolton to save a little face then Trump is being very petty. I won’t forget this! Bolton is a patriot!

Anyone who didn’t see this coming is blind. I can’t see President Trump saying “Let’s talk about this tomorrow”. They have been going head to head for months.

Freshly out the door and he’s already challenging Trump’s ‘recollection of the facts’. Good riddance to the Bush era walrus.

So did I... But, I was mistaken. He did not hate the UN for the same reasons we did. He hated it for not being deep state enough...

Why would anyone sane go work in this administration? Or insane, in Bolton’s case.

I believe this is being done to curry favor with the Norks. They hate Bolton. If the story is true, Trump should not have fired Bolton and let him resign. This stinks.
