A couple in Pennsylvania is facing theft charges and over $100,000 in overdraft fees after allegedly using money that was accidentally deposited into their bank account, WITN reports.
State police said the couple living at a home on Cypress Street in Montoursville got themselves into hot water after spending money that wasn't theirs.
Investigators said Robert and Tiffany Williams had $120,000 deposited into their account at BB&T May 31 through a mistake by a teller. But instead of contacting the bank about the deposit, the couple allegedly spent most of the money in just over two weeks from June 3 to June 19.

Too many people are Dumbasses.
Yes, it is theft when you take something you know doesn’t belong to you.
Yes honest , respectful people are very rare today.
I am sure we all have neighbors who are OK for the most art but have one neighbor who does not care what their neighborhood looks like. I am sure we all have those non honest people at work who back stab, spread rumors, lie to get ahead.
Here’s a related tale:
I decided to try out a coffee shop near my new job. The first time she gave me a counterfeit ten, the second time she gave me the wrong change in her favor, the third time she took the customer behind me before me.
There was no fourth time.
Finders keepers!!! Boy I would hate to have to replace this money after spending it, some people are just SOOOOOOOO STUPID!!! We should never wonder WHY people believe in the Dems you cant fix stupid!!!!
No......The fact that you could actually ask that question shows how far the societal values of our country have devolved......
OMG I can absolutely believe this have you EVER SEEN one of these kids trying to count back change if something happens and the change is not up on the computer screen IT IS A RIOT to watch them!!!! It really disturbs me that the younger generation is being given a substandard education!!! Those of us that are in their mid 50s and above have a high school education that taught us more than kids have learned with 4 years of college!!! Quite disturbing!!!
That definition that you quoted sure sounds like taxes to me!
Couple “accidentally” spends it.
This is what would happen in 90% or more cases if reparayshuns ever became a reality. Say the amount of free gibs handed out was $100k per person. The money would be spent on frivolous crap within 2 weeks.
Grabblers and gimmedats have been bankrupted the country...
At the grocery store, I sometimes give the clerks enough change so that I get bills back. Bear in mind that the smallest Canadian bill is $5.00. We have $1.00 and $2.00 coins in addition to ‘change’. It confuses so many of them. I sometimes have to explain it to them. Of course, in Africa, the Middle East and parts of Asia, where they are most often from, anything above grade 2 is considered ‘advanced education.
Of course, as Justine True-dope says, ‘diversity is our strength’.
Yep! I started going to a different bank branch after the third time getting shorted.
They may have gotten a reward(?) if they notified the bank.
I had a client get a $48,000 erroneous refund check from the IRS. I instructed them to purchase a CD at the bank and return it when the IRS found their error.
They never did. Since this was in the early 1980’s and many years passed, and the client had passed too, I mentioned it to a senior IRS representative during one of our meetings.
He informed me that about that same time the IRS accidentally processed a data tape twice and issued duplicate refund checks . All agents had to drop their current cases and go knocking on doors collecting the duplicate checks .
The agents were told, do nothing if they don’t give the money back.
It never hit the news.
The truly shocking thing is that they even HAD a bank account.
#3 that is what the Clintons think. Money goes into their charity / foundation but never comes out except to but a small block long apartment in NYC for Chelsea.
“This is NOT theft. It does not meet the legal definition.”
You are so wrong.
2005 Arizona Revised Statutes - Revised Statutes §13-1802 Theft; classification
My wife withdrew 1450 from Wells Fargo. The cashier gave my wife 1785. My wife walked away, counted it, and came back and said: You made a mistake. She gave the $335 back. Wells Fargo took the $335 back from my wife.
Now Wells Fargo is charging us $335 plus interest for their mistake. They have no way to handle situations when a cashier makes an honest mistake.
