No primary stop travel or campaigning on the Presidential level.

I don’t think your concern about folks like Kasich is credible. I don’t see Trump losing any GOP POTUS primary, or giving any contender anything near 35% of the delegates. Trump will control the convention which means controlling when speakers will speak.

I would rather have Trump winning the primaries than the GOP merely having a top-down decided coronation.

In States with Open Primaries, at least, this move would prevent libtards from showing up as “crossover” voters to try and knock Trump out of the General Election by voting for some GOPe nevertrump idiot, or — worse — voting for some come-lately who jumped onto the ballot as a darkhorse Republican.

I think you missed my point. California (for example) has just passed a law that says a presidential candidate can’t be on a primary ballot unless he makes his tax returns public. I wouldn’t assume Trump would win the California primary with only write-in votes.

It also saves the states a lot of money which can be used in the general election.

At the same time, it allows Republican voters on those open primary states to vote in the DEMOCRAT primaries. LOL.

I am pretty sure even without the formal primaries the President will be holding rallies. Not having to campaign in specific states opens up more flexibility.

I am assuming the California law is going to be legally challenged as contrary to federal law, and that law will lose.

That - “open primaries” - is a separate and independent point. And I think that problem should be attacked head on - there should be no “open primaries”. To me a primary is for the people registered for a party to chose who THEY want to represent their party. A primary should not be a quasi winner take all general election; it should be restricted to voting only for the choices in the party someone is registered with.

They don’t really have a choice, nobody out there has what it takes to take on Trump.

You’re probably right, but I wouldn’t assume ANYTHING when it comes to the Federal courts.

Also, caucuses are kind of fun! Definitely worthwhile attending.

POTUS won’t campaign? Doubtful. Since Presidential travel usually includes fundraisers I don’t see a big savings here. This is primarily about keeping the heat off the RINOs down ballot.

It would save zero dollars, actually. Every state would still have Republican primaries for the House, maybe Senate, judgeships, mayors, governors, city councils, Sheriffs, local dogcatcher, and so on. Not having Trump in he primary just means a lot fewer people will vote is the rest of the primaries, so Dem crossovers will be much more effective.
