A Pennsylvania fire company was closed by town officials on Wednesday after the company's leadership refused to address that one its volunteer firefighters was affiliated with the extremist group the Proud Boys.
Officials in Haverford Township, in Delaware County, were informed on Aug. 12 that a volunteer with the Bon Air Fire Company was affiliated with "an organization described as an extremist group," the township's manager David Burman wrote in a statement released Thursday.
The township immediately launched an investigation, which included interviewing the volunteer, who admitted he was involved with the Proud Boys, Burman said. The volunteer revealed he had attended social gatherings hosted by the group and had passed two of the group's four initiation steps, "which includes hazing."
Burman's statement quoted the group's "self-proclaimed basic tenet," posted on their website, that they are “Western chauvinists who refuse to apologize for creating the modern world.” The proclamation belongs to the Proud Boys, who "are known for anti-Muslim and misogynistic rhetoric," according to the Southern Poverty Law Center, which designates them as a hate group. Women and transgender men are not allowed in the group.
While the volunteer "indicated that he had attempted to distance himself from the group in recent months" Burman and a police official met with Bon Air Fire Company officials on Aug. 14 to address "the seriousness of this matter and urged the fire company to address it."
Burman said he was informed the next day that the volunteer had offered his resignation, but the Bon Air Fire Company chief had refused to accept it. A week later, Burman said he received an email that said the fire company's board had "found no basis for terminating the volunteer’s membership."

The funny thing is, when I initially heard of the "Proud Boys" my first thought was they were a homosexual organization. Back in the day, the queers were always talking about "pride" and "boys".
I think they could have picked a better name for their group.

The fire company is accused of “not addressing “ their member’s membership in Proud Boys.
They DID address it. They decided that being associated with Proud Boys was not an impediment to being a good firefighter. They are being disbanded for not deciding the “correct” way.

This story was clearly vetted if not written by the SPLC.
Instead of asking the guy or interviewing an actual "Proud Boy", they just wrote a story about what the SPLC "thinks" or feels about this group.

Also note that ALL the fire fighters of the company supported the defamed member...

Not surprising - Haverford is home of Haverford College, or probably University by now, one of the Holy Three small very liberal colleges in the Philly suburbs - Swarthmore and Bryn Mawr being the other two - the towns in which they’re housed attract loads of ultra liberal professor types along with other “intellectual” types you’d expect to find in a college setting - kind of surprising they’d support any fire company at all - there must be something somewhere in the leftwing orthodoxy about fires being a wholesome and beneficial part of nature and not to be messed with by man......

For the benefit of non-Pennsylvania or New Jersey FReepers, which is most of you: Pennsylvania counties are subdivided into many dozen smaller entities called Townships and Boroughs.
Each of these municipalities is required by State law, on an annual basis, to pass a resolution stating which Fire Company(ies) may provide coverage and which Police department will do likewise. Similarly for EMS.
A municipality can decertify a fire company from responding at any time for any reason. With most Townships governed by three Supervisors, you can alienate one and get a way with it. Alienate two and you’re done.
“Commonwealth” government has a lot of weaknesses and very few strengths.
I hope that the house of the town manager burns down, killing his family, because that is the only way these PC leftist assholes are ever going to learn a lesson about the consequences of their stupidity/actions.
Harsh? Yes. Undeserving for any innocent family member to be injured or killed? Yes. But these clowns are endangering the whole township to spite the single fireman (somebody make the town manager/council become firefighters in their places. See how many homes and lives will be lost if that happens.) Democrats “talk”, “first responders act”.
That is the different.
Let the Leftists suffer from their stupidity, blind-hatred, and Political Correctness. That is the ONLY WAY they will ever learn, if at all.
