Walgreens, Wegmans, CVS ask customers not to open carry firearms in stores

After Walmart and Kroger earlier this week urged customers not to openly carry firearms in their stores, drug store giants Walgreens and CVS, along with the Wegmans Food Markets announced Thursday that they were joining in making the same request, continuing a movement among major stores concerning gun violence.

"We are joining other retailers in asking our customers to no longer openly carry firearms into our stores other than authorized law enforcement officials," Walgreens stated.

"We join a growing chorus of businesses in requesting that our customers, other than authorized law enforcement personnel, do not bring firearms into our stores," CVS added.

"The sight of someone with a gun can be alarming, and we don’t want anyone to feel that way at Wegmans," the food store said in a statement, saying they 'prefer that customers not openly carry firearms.'

However, as we all know this doesn’t apply to bakers or florists, who deny service to a certain demographic, based on their religious beliefs. When that happens, the rules do not apply and it is ok to ruin their lives.

They also can ask you to leave, and you have to comply.

“Had a thought, people are already not going to your stores and shopping on Amazon. Now you are pushing even more people to staying home and ordering online.”

_____

Nope, not much of a argument. Open carry is not what you think it is. No where near what the MSM tells you.

Snowflakes get the vapors at the mere sight of a gun.

Or a Bible.

Yes they do

A lot of the folks here harrumph about their rights as property owners, but seem to forget the property rights of others.

These companies don’t necessarily care if someone is armed.

They just don’t want to deal with the crap from liberal idiots when they bitch about open carry

I don’t think open carry is a good idea. Why be the first target to a shooter? Why get hit over the head or sucker punched while walking around a store?

I think this is exactly the wrong attitude. If enough of us do it, you can't target us all.

They are buying protection from the left, including their flash mobs and legal wing (lawyers + judges). They do not fear law-abiding, decent Americans.

***You seem to argue that anyone open carry is a good guy.
That’s not a good argument.***

Then go to such a store with ONLY a clam shell holster, no gun. See them still have a fit.

“The sight of someone with a gun can be alarming, and we don’t want anyone to feel that way at Wegmans,”

Biggest worry with this is some anti-gun idiot will call 9-11 and the cops and come in shooting first. After all, it is a DRUG store.

I think you are wrong. Walmart stores are most definitely private property.

Open carry is not the same as conceal carry. However, the same rule probably applies and it is best to comply with the companies requirements.

Is that indeed what they are saying — open is not okay but conceal is okay?

Pain pills? I know that the police frown on carrying while drunk or high on pot.

Unless it helps conceal your weapon.

There are some businesses that will call the police if they know that you are concealed carrying. And you can get in trouble. Apparently you can be charged with trespassing, etc.

That is why some holsters are not very good. Especially if you are reaching for the corn-flakes on the top shelf and your shirt lifts up.

And you might get in some legal troubles too if the store owner is spiteful enough.
