After Walmart and Kroger earlier this week urged customers not to openly carry firearms in their stores, drug store giants Walgreens and CVS, along with the Wegmans Food Markets announced Thursday that they were joining in making the same request, continuing a movement among major stores concerning gun violence.
"We are joining other retailers in asking our customers to no longer openly carry firearms into our stores other than authorized law enforcement officials," Walgreens stated.
"We join a growing chorus of businesses in requesting that our customers, other than authorized law enforcement personnel, do not bring firearms into our stores," CVS added.
"The sight of someone with a gun can be alarming, and we dont want anyone to feel that way at Wegmans," the food store said in a statement, saying they 'prefer that customers not openly carry firearms.'

I changed to a Sig 938 one summer and liked it so much that's all I carry now.
I know all of the pros/cons involved in that switch, but for me it was the right move.
I still keep a 1911 with me when I sleep but I'm done with them when I'm out. No interest in open carry anymore either. I like being the only one who knows what's in my pocket.
Had a thought, people are already not going to your stores and shopping on Amazon. Now you are pushing even more people to staying home and ordering online.
All I can tell you is that I managed minimum-wage retail employees for many years, and if you expect them to think things through to that extent you’re delusional.
They’ll be some sort of panic and one of them will call a SWAT team.
It’s your right to open carry. And your right to get shot as a suspected armed robber I guess.
Maybe not on someone else’s private property.
So I guess the only open carriers in their stores now will be mass shooters? Truly their customers are saved.
“Their policy is for open carry only. I have no problem with that. It is THEIR store. (And if they dont want to sell cakes to queers, it is THEIR right in THEIR store). They are not saying no guns they are saying no urban cowboys. I cc everywhere... but even Im darned wary of some guy walking around a mall with the weapon showing, because there is no ADULT reason for it. To me, open carry is BLING. You can have one in the chamber and many more in the mag concealed and be more tactically effective with surprise and ambush.”

Thank you for explaining the real issue in terms that anyone can understand.
if this becomes the case, buy more Amazon stock. Soccer Moms will not take their kids thru metal detectors and security lines.
Fine. We’ll all carry concealed.
What they don’t know won’t keep them up at night.
Community rules?
Rules, customs, traditions, common practice, laws. You used the word rules so I followed suit.
My neighbors and I have an intangible property interest in our community. If an outsider comes it’s preferable that the outsider assimilate to us rather than forcing us to his will. If the outsider wants to force us to his will, he’s more than welcome to go elsewhere.
Theoretically, Bloomberg could buy all the retail stores in a small town that he never visited let alone lived in, and ban firearms in those stores contrary to the wishes and common practice of the residents. It might even be legal in some places, though I don’t believe it would be right.
Do you and your neighbors agree with outsiders coming into your community and changing things to your detriment rather than assimilating into your community?
Good points. Also there is the slim but non-zero potential for someone to grab an open carried weapon.
It serves no purpose and concealed carry offers the same advantages with no downside.
The sight of fags making out in public can be alarming too. They gonna ask them to stop?
And they will see their profits dropped. Insanity continues!
I have a class 3 hitch so I have started pulling a 105mm howitzer whenever I go out. Just in case the war starts while I am at the store..
“Its your right to open carry. And your right to get shot as a suspected armed robber I guess.
Maybe not on someone elses private property.”
Someone else’s private property is not WalMart, unless you are getting shot at by WalMart’s security, I suppose. Anyone else causing ruckus needs to go to jail, not a WalMart shopper exercising their legal rights. Am I wrong?
Or a Bible.
“......Do you and your neighbors agree with outsiders coming into your community and changing things to your detriment rather than assimilating into your community?....”
When one comes to America seeking to become a American. A real American. A American in every sense of the word, One that swears to follow the laws of America, not sneak in and plant illegal babys, then yes, I am for it.
It’s a privately owned business. They can dictate who comes into the store.
However, as we all know this doesn’t apply to bakers or florists, who deny service to a certain demographic, based on their religious beliefs. When that happens, the rules do not apply and it is ok to ruin their lives.
I carry in my purse or pocket.

Hey, do you like going out to country dancing estasblishments?
You could be the one.
Just don’t shoot. OK?
