Jo Johnson quits: Boris Johnson's brother cites 'tension' between 'family loyalty and national

Boris Johnson's brother Jo Johnson has said he is quitting as a Tory MP and minister.

He has spent nine years as an MP for Orpington and was appointed earlier this year by his brother as Minister of State at the Department of Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy and Department of Education.

In a tweet, he wrote: "It’s been an honour to represent Orpington for 9 years & to serve as a minister under three PMs.

"In recent weeks I’ve been torn between family loyalty and the national interest - it’s an unresolvable tension & time for others to take on my roles as MP & Minister."

He did not make it clear if the resignation would take immediate effect or if it would be in the event of a snap election.

Labour MP Ian Murray tweeted: “Even Boris Johnson’s brother knows that he can’t be trusted to make decisions in the national interest. This is devastating from Jo Johnson.”

Wonder what dirt the globalists had on him to make him quit on his own brother.

It seems that Jo Johnson is against a no-deal Brexit - In November last year, Jo Johnson quit Theresa May’s government as transport minister saying he could not support her Brexit deal.

He called it a ‘terrible mistake’ and threw his weight behind the People’s Vote i.e. a second referendum

Brother fighting brother. I guess it’s not so new. Cain and Abel comes to mind. Solomon and his brother. Obama and his half brother that lived in a hut.

No, it hasn’t.

Brexit is going to happen - that’s nearly 100% sure.

The only two questions are when and what kind of brexit

Boris has to hang in and delay for today and tomorrow - then on Monday his 5 week recess begins and he is off the hook until October 15.

Unless the UK explicitly asks for an extension, then October 31 is Brexit day.

Red Corbyn wants Brexit so he can then wait for the country to crash and then he hopes to get a victory in a GE

I still see the odds of hard, no-deal Brexit on 31 Oct 2019 as 9:1

so when they “blocked” no deal yesterday, that doesn’t actually matter (because of the EU deadline)?

(and parliament can’t force the PM to ask for an extension?)

Is that the right way to understand this?

Thanks for all your awesome posts btw...you’ve helped us all understand this whole mess, and it is very confusing at times....

“They” as in parliament prepared a bill to push for no no-deal. That’s gone to the House of Lords. If it passes that unelected group on Friday, it comes back to the House of commons.

A big IF if :) it will be ready before the recess.

Now parliament can compel the PM to listen, but he doesn’t have to (contempt) and/or he can delay.

Let’s assume parliament approves a bill saying no no-deal.

Then Boris sits on his hands on it until after October 15.

Then parliament needs to pass a bill compelling the UK to ask for another extension.

If Boris resigns then (October 15+), there’s no way to get an election in place before October 31.

And note - it’s not an EU deadline - it’s a deadline between the UK and the EU.

Jo Johnson resigns as Tory MP to spend less time with his family

Johnson said it had been a difficult decision, and he has enjoyed his time in parliament, but simply couldn’t work in an environment where he is expected to spend so much time with his older brother.

Sad to see that the progressive-corporist alliance is thicker than blood. Globalism truly is a religion.

Don't often see a politician resigning to spend less time with his family but there it is.

Britain spilt with the USA after WW2. The Socialists took over, federalizing the utilities and healthcare. It is not a happy place to live. Waaaaay too many ‘on the dole’, which is what the Dims want to do to our beloved country. (BTW, I detest Me-again, but understand her need to return to the USA)
