A Lewiston man recovering from a stab wound has been charged with a weekend shooting in the city’s downtown.
Noor Ali Hussein, 24, was charged with elevated aggravated assault, a Class A crime, and reckless conduct with a dangerous weapon, a Class C crime, according to Lewiston police Lt. David St. Pierre.
A Class A crime is punishable by up to 30 years in prison and a $50,000 fine, and a Class C crime is punishable by up to five years in prison and a $5,000 fine.
Hussein allegedly shot Jarious Teofile, 25, of Lewiston in the chest, stomach and legs during an altercation about 4 p.m. Sunday on Lisbon Street, between Ash and Pine streets, according to police.

LEWISTON, Maine — A Lewiston man accused of shooting another man three times over the holiday weekend has been charged by police while in the hospital.
An arrest warrant was issued Tuesday for Noor Ali Hussien, who faces two charges of elevated aggravated assault and reckless conduct with a firearm.
The 24-year-old was allegedly involved in an altercation Sunday afternoon on Lisbon Street during which he was stabbed. Another man, identified Tuesday as Jarious Teofilo of Lewiston, was shot multiple times.
Hussein and Teofilo knew each other. Police said one of the two is the current boyfriend of a local woman, with whom the other had previously been involved in a relationship. It was not revealed which of the two was the current boyfriend, but police did say the altercation was not a random act of violence.
Noor Ali Hussein... is from away.
We may never know his motive.

Of course Noor Ali Hussein is NOT a ‘Lewiston man’.
It was over a chick. "Authorities" declined to say which guy was the ex and which was the current.

I’ve lived in Lewiston and it’s twin city Auburn for the last 30 years. 9 years ago I had no fear campaigning in the downtown. Not so much anymore.
His folks came over in the 1800’s so they say.
