A Boston judge ordered the defense attorney for a Straight Pride Parade protester to be taken away in handcuffs after she argued he didnt have the right to refuse to dismiss a case.
Attorney Susan Church was held in contempt of court Wednesday by Boston Municipal Court Judge Richard Sinnott while defending Lilley Antoinette, 29, a protester from Somerville who was charged with disorderly conduct at the Straight Pride Parade in Boston Saturday.
Both Church and the prosecutor requested dismissing Antoinettes case due to the police report of her arrest lacking information, including what her exact actions were at the event and who may have been victimized.
Were outraged, said Elizabeth Rucker, who has been leading efforts to pay for the protesters bails. An argument between the two is an overstatement of what happened. How could you possibly say (Antoinette) victimized someone if theres no name of a victim? Sinnott, who declined requests from prosecutors to dismiss some of the cases the day before, pushed back against Church when she spoke out about statutes regarding case dismissals.
This is the only warning youre going to get. Do not try to talk over me, do not try to turn this into theater, Sinnott said before ordering Church to be held in contempt.
Antoinettes arraignment was rescheduled due to Churchs removal, though she said her lawyers actions only made her like her more.
My lawyer is a badass, Antoinette said.

Good advice.
I was a witness in a case in a Boston courtroom.
When the case came up the judge said he didn't have time to hear it that day, and told the lawyers he wanted everybody back in the courtroom Monday at 10 AM.
One of the lawyers approached the bench and said he couldn't make it because he had to be in another courtroom on another case on Monday at 10 AM.
The judge told him " If you are not here Monday at 10 AM I will hold you in contempt of court.
And then the Judge left". - Tom

Wonder who is on top?

Could be evidence of police-prosecutor favoritism toward Antifa, i.e., an unconstitutional deprivation of equal protection of law. DOJ and Trump have no excuse for not challenging this type of behavior.

That'll give the perp something to talk about with her fellow inmates.
I fantasize about a citizen asserting their Constitutional power against authority:
Imagine if a juror talked back to a judge, saying I have a 6th amendment power as an impartial jury, and you are a creation of Congress as a lower court. My right as a member of the jury is superior to yours via Article VI.
Then I fantasize about being thrown in jail for contempt.

It’s the judges’ courtroom. They run the show. Otherwise you have judicial anarchy.
Oops like most posters including me you just read the headline
We all do it
They need to file a formal complaint against the judge with the Judicial Inquiry and Review Board.
I’ve cost more than one judge his job by doing this. They sweat bullets just being investigated.
Don’t be ashamed. I’m not. I’m pretty sure it’s in the Constitution to do so. I shoot from the hip. That’s how I roll. And when I get it wrong, I blame it on the other Bob.
That’s why I did not follow my mother’s wishes and go to law school. I know myself well enough to realize that by now I would have absolutely shattered the county record for contempt citations.
Why? From what I can see in the article, the judge had every right to hold the lawyer in contempt if she was trying to talk over him, especially if he had already warned her.
A judge is a dictator in “Their” courtroom.
“Your move, Sugartits.”
LOL!!! Gotta go to school for a long time to get that stupid.
Rule #1 don’t piss off the judge
Rule #2 see rule #1
Straight Pride Parade protester
MSM code for person protesting a parade of non-homosexual Americans.
The left-wing protestor is represented by a left-wing activist lawyer who tried to foul up the proceedings and got in the judge’s face.
For some reason (seeing that these events took place in Boston) the judge wasn’t buying in, and His Honor threw her in the hoosegow.
...
Thank you for taking the time
First, after reading a better article on this, I’m happy with the end result as the attorney was representing Antifa protesters.
Most District courts are Mickey Mouse Courts. The judges are unqualified and make bad decisions. Often it is better to just waive it to a real coutt.
It’s a courtroom, not a stage. Judge rules.
