Kroger on Tuesday followed Walmart in asking shoppers not to openly carry guns in any of its stores, in states where open carry is allowed, unless they are authorized law enforcement officers.
The announced changes come amid a wave of deadly shootings in the U.S., including two at Walmart stores this summer.
Both companies are also calling on the government to strengthen background checks.
Kroger is respectfully asking that customers no longer openly carry firearms into our stores, other than authorized law enforcement officers, Jessica Adelman, group vice president of corporate affairs, said in an emailed statement. We are also joining those encouraging our elected leaders to pass laws that will strengthen background checks and remove weapons from those who have been found to pose a risk for violence.

Open carry has its purposes. I think for most folks that isn’t normal everyday purposes.
IMHO open carry is a bit vulgar. Yes it should be our absolute to do so but it really freaks a lot of people out. In most circumstances its just as easy to have your weapon under a jacket our out of plain site. I expect to get flamed here but whenever I see someone walking around a public gathering with a sidearm it turns into a scene.
Virtue signalling to liberal shareholders and analysts, knowing full well the true carriers will not be deterred.
Libs just want to ban everything they do not like.
MAGA hats are racist, cant wear them.
Confederate flag is racist, cant display it.
The cross reminds them God exists, cant display it.
The bible and 10 commandments remind people,God exists, cant hve that in our morally corrupt and bankrupt libtard run schools.
Conservative free speech oposes libtard views, cant be allowed on campus.
Guns outside of criminals and govt hands scare libtards, so even a finger gesture or picture of a gun on paper gets a kid suspended now.
To hel with libtards.
No one made them our moral arbiters. They need to all be told to FOAD.
Kroger has a`15 item and under line but every time there is a person in the line with 25+ items and Kroger does not say a word to them.
Grab two shopping carts and fill them up and then open carry. Bet a word will not be said.
Doesn’t matter. As long as it is legal to carry in any place that is not designated by law, I will be packin’..with a conceal and carry permit. Their “preferences” are duly noted.
Looks like I’ll be strappin’ up next trip to Smiths. They can ask me to leave.
Im sure someone carrying a weapon into the store with the intent of a mass killing will quickly turn around upon seeing the sign.
Well, there is still Publix.
Agreed, open carry really should be for times like after an earthquake or hurricane or a riot. It just attracts attention. Conceal carry is the way to go.
So they say don’t openly Carry Your Weapon they don’t say anything about concealed carry I don’t live in a state where I can openly carry.
They say strengthen background checks well the last little shooter in Odessa failed background check we don’t know how he got his gun, mental illness in this country is ridiculous and then nuts out there we’re not talkin about.
The last idiot call the FBI and the police and people called the police before say he was shooting at animals or something from his roof and they couldn’t find his house or follow up on it they 10-8 shorted it and now you going to make it so it’s about another $10 on on it how about maybe that’ll help the background checks that’s what they’re going to do their raise the background check fee change some laws are going to be more stringent it’s just going to be a bunch of baloney.
It’s like the DMV runs the background checks as well things get through loopholes it’s just nuts but they’re coming after your guns the Law Abiding Citizen
Anyone could randomly run over and kill their Customers in the parking lot.
Whats next, asking customers to leave their Cars at home snd walk to the Store?
Aw crap. Now Kroger is on my do-not-shop list, and I was almost exclusively a Kroger shopper.
I was okay with the do-not-open-carry request.
I am NOT OKAY with them calling for gun control laws.
.
Kroger is Continental Oil.
And yet, they waded into the gun-control law-passing debate.
GOOD JOB, because they TOTALLY F(((ING LOST ME.
And I was a 100%-Kroger shopper.
.
Let them ask in person!
