Kamala Harris entered the presidential race with impressive credentials -- a popular black woman with an inspiring story who hailed from a large Democratic state and drew accolades for her fiery questioning of President Donald Trump’s nominees.
Yet despite a shot of adrenaline after confronting front-runner Joe Biden in the first debate, she has failed to catch fire with Democratic voters who are torn between a nostalgic fondness for Biden and a revolutionary desire for Bernie Sanders or Elizabeth Warren.
Harris’s attempt to replicate her feat in the second debate backfired among Democrats who say she went too negative on Biden. The Californian also suffers from a perception that she lacks a deep ideological well to guide her policy ideas, in contrast to her three main rivals who are better-defined. After barely surviving the Usurper-in-Chief, yes. It was a rhetorical, wise-azz question.
I have a slightly different take on all of this.
First, the number one goal for the Democrats is to have a Fully-Certified Progressive (TM) as the president. As dull and as abrasive as Kamala Harris can sound at times, remember abrasiveness is a favorable Dem trait. Yes, she’s black, or more specifically, not white nor East Asian. She has the “experience” of being a “tough on crime” attorney, but she was CA AG during the time that the law to let out all the convicts to “reduce prison population” was being formulated.
In short, she’s fully qualified and easy to promote ONCE there are no other candidates to fuss with.
And that brings us to the current “phase.” To be blunt, the only reason that Beto, Castro, and other low-percenters are in the race is to go for the VP. Harris will most probably pick a non-white male to be her running mate, and they fit the bill. Note that even if Harris is not the long-view candidate, and one of the three inept white-white old people get the nomination, then they would have to pick a non-white running mate, so the game is still afoot.
But it comes down to endurance, to be honest. I’m very sure the Deep Staters/Democrat Party were cringing at Hillary’s health during the 2016 campaign, making sure they had a back doctor on call at all times, and other things. They do not want a repeat of that with one of the three white-white septuagenarians hobbling across the country.
Nope, Harris is it. Not sure how it will be played, but I’m sure there will be a lot of collusion between the network “moderators” and Perez’s office. The one thing the Democrats absolutely can NOT have is for the candidate to be in limbo by the time the DNC convention occurs.
Ironically, had AOC been 35 by Inauguration day, she would have easily won the nomination, as her agenda has essentially been adopted and promoted throughout the Democrat Party. This is why I think Harris is going to take it.

But, maybe, everyone KNOWS this already...

I agree completely there. Who was the last Senator who was worth a damn as President? It sure wasn’t Obunghole.
In my lifetime, only Nixon or JFK really seemed up to snuff to me, and both of them had their obvious issues. Johnson, definitely not. Then you have to go way back.
I am no fan of Harry Truman due to his interactions with people like Sen. McCarthy coupled with his cover up of embarrassing Democrat collusion and acceptance of communists in the government. It was more important to him to cover it all up to protect the Democrat Party than it was to give national security precedence as it should have.
So I agree with you...Senators make lousy Presidents, and even more so in today’s political world.

Her beat-down of Biden wasn’t as extreme as Tulsi’s beat-down of her, and that made her look weaker. (Thank you, Tulsi.)
