“What can we do for these people?”

Maybe check with missions boards that have churches in hard-hit areas and give money to them to disburse. We avoid large charities like Red Cross, etc., because a large percentage is skimmed off the top for “administration”, with only a small bit going to the people.

Although it gets zero press coverage by the MSM, the Southern Baptist men’s disaster crew arrives at disaster sites before Red Cross and Salvation Army. We aren’t involved in SBC when it comes to church, but they seem to be good for helping in disasters.

Sometimes, the differences are slim between legitimate reaons and excuses, in the face of known conditions that remain unchanged.

Exactly. They continue to live in tropical storm and hurricane pathways. Insurance companies should give homeowners one hurricane claim and that’s it. No more. Of course the companies will call it flooding so won’t have to pay for the one time.

We’ll send them aide even though it’s a British Commonwealth. The Brits aren’t hurting money wise. Bet they wouldn’t send a dime to replace the awnings at Mar-a-Largo.

For those who don’t get it, “nuke” has more than one meaning. In common usage, one can “nuke” food in a microwave, for example.

While they are indeed standing they are fit only for demolition.

That’s not the island that got the 24+ hours of it! That’s video of Acabo... the island still under the hurricane for now more than a day (although it has deintensified some and the eye has moved offshore) is Grand Bahama... and that island is now all but gone, 90% under water.

They had plenty of time to evacuate. Airlines were offering very cheap flights.

Sail those boats in the harbor around to the Gulf side of Florida a few days before would have saved at least the boat which they could have lived on. But, nooo, now they have no house or boat and are stuck in the middle of ground zero with no telling when they’ll get electricity, water and food.

Sad, but true. Even Puerto Rico is pretty much back to normal.

In Fort Lauderdale, what a difference just 100 miles make. Counting my blessings.

They are going to need a lot of help from us. Where to begin? Prayers for all of them.
