Catestrophic Hurricane Dorian was assigned Category 5 status by the NHC Sunday, September 1 at 0800. Since then Hurricane Dorian reached maximum sustained winds of 185 MPH, with gusts exceeding 220 MPH, and storm surge 18-23 feet above normal tide levels as it made landfall across Great Abaco Island in the Bahamas. Dorian became the strongest hurricane in modern records for the Northwestern Bahamas.
Dorian has wrought extreme wind and flood damage to Abacos and Grand Bahama Island as it crawled slowly across the Northern Bahamas.
All interests along the Atlantic coast should continue monitoring conditions and forecasts as powerful Hurricane Dorian moves very close to the US coastline. Evacuation orders have been issued for many Atlantic coastal communities in the Southeast US. Evacuations include multiple hospitals and nursing homes along the coast with anticipated dangerous storm surge and battering waves.
Wind speed is expected to weaken and fluctuate in the coming days as the storm moves northward.

Good read....
Because the upper atmosphere is too calm, and that may help spare Florida a bit, meteorologists said.
Powerful Hurricane Dorian has been going nowhere because nothing high up is making it budge.

Dorian looks a little like its spinning out, like flinging cake batter.
I’ll try. My AC on fritz so can’t use laptop at home because apartment temp is in mid-80s. I hope we don’t lose power as the forecast high for Thursday after Dorian passes is 95.

Yes, Ive heard the parents and kiddos can readily access the rides
Stay safe, Kristinn.
Ouch! Had to replace AC here back in June. Five long days of dire heat waiting for the new system to be installed. I worked at night and kept electronics turned off during days. Crazy.
Scary....
Looks like it is not moving.

No gasoline shortages all weekend while Publix here has restocked everything except for batteries over AA and AAA.
I am up in the Jax area near 95. Traffic was pretty light going north. I don’t think many people are evacuating outside of beach dwellers and flood prone areas.
Today my local Ace hardware had cases of D batteries, battery powered fans, gas cans, etc. The works basically. I would recommend them if you are looking for any last minute supplies.
Ominous!
Thanks. Forecast is much better than a days ago. Melbourne is out of the cone tonight, finally, but not out of danger yet.
I invite you to come and 'crack' my plastic covers. I have used them for 15 years and they are still flexible and very difficult to cut. I suspect you are thinking of another plastic product, not these mats I bought from Office Depot. They are translucent; I did not see any transparent ones when I bought them. They do let light inside but, as my son says, don't plan on doing any bird watching. :)
Bttt
Same here regarding the stairs. All I could think of was Poseidon Adventure.
:^D I never looked at it that way... lack of experience, I suppose.
I’ve had to abandon my bedroom except for not very comfortable sleep. Good news is power crews from all over have been staging in Brevard all weekend so any power outages should be fixed quickly.
Ace Hardware. Thanks!
Omg! D batteries. Lucky you! Lol
